Brayden Randolph Gets win #100

Junior Captain Brayden Randolph recorded his 100th career win on Saturday at the Westland John Glenn tournament! The historic win came in the second dual of the day against Ypsilanti Lincoln High school with a pin in just 9 seconds. He currently has an outstanding career record of 103-7. Congratulations Brayden!

Brayden Randolph secured his 150th career win at the individual state meet March 6th. The win came in an 11-2 win over Hunter Belew of Delton Kellog in the semi-final and advanced him to the state title match!
AJ Baxter wins 150.

AJ Baxter won his 150th career match at the team state finals February 28th. The historic win came in the quarterfinal win against Carson City Crystal. Baxter secured a 7-3 decision at the start of the dual meet to lead off the scoring on Clinton's way to a 47-24 win and eventual state title the following day!
Clinton girls finished 2nd in Girls state Championships

The Clinton girls bested all but one team out of the 154 competing on Sunday in the girls state Championships to claim the 2nd place trophy in the entire state. The field around them in the top 10 were all much larger schools. Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central won the title with 76 points while Clinton was 2nd with 60. Fenton (44.5), Parchment (42), and Jackson high (39) rounded out the top 5. Clinton got runner-up finishes out of Makenzie German at 97 pounds and Taylor Randolph at 127. Jaecy Jones finished 5th. Michelle Arntz and Leanne Mercier also competed for the Redskins but came up short of medals. Makenzie German started her day with a pin in the quarterfinal round in 3:59 after receiving a bye in the first round. In her semi-final match she trailed 10-6 late in the match before scoring 2 late takedowns to force overtime at 11. With 10 seconds left in overtime she came up with the takedown that advanced her to the final. In the final she fell to her opponent from Saline high school to finish 2nd. Taylor Randolph competed at 127 and Posted 3 pins to earn her way tot he final. she wore out all her opponents getting pins late in 3:11, 3:56, and 3:47 to advance to the championship match in dominating fashion. She dropped her final match to a Bedford opponent and finished in second. Jaecy Jones Started her day with a quick pin in just 1:06 before losing a heartbreaker in her quarterfinal match. She gathered herself and marched back through the consolation bracket with a pin, 10-0 decision, and 6-4 in the 5th place match to get her medal. The good news for Clinton wrestling is all 5 girls return for a run at next years state championship.
Clinton hosts JV tournament for boys, Girls tournament

Saturday at home the wrestlers that did not make it into the county tournament competed at home and the girls used it as a warm-up for the girls state finals on Sunday. The Redskins had 5 champions during the meet. Brenden Keith, Nate Smith, Ryan Phillips, Makenzie German, and Taylor Randolph all won titles. Finishing 2nd was Nate Darm, Michelle Arntz, and Leanne Mercier finished 2nd. Rourke Solmonson and Jaecy Jones finished 4th.
Girls compete at West Ottawa Hills girls tournament and clean up

Clinton sent their 5 girl wrestlers to West Ottawa High school for an all girls tournament and the girls showed their dominance. Makenzie German won the 103 pound weight class pinning her way through the tournament and finishing the day 3-0. Taylor Randolph matched that feat in the 125 pound weight class. Taylor swept through the tournament 3-0 with 3 pins. All 3 pins came in the first period for her title. Not to be outdone by her teamates, Jaecy Jones matched them both going 3-0 with 3 pins to claim the title at 140 pounds. Michelle Arntz wrestled at 112 and finished in 2nd place in her first high school tournament. Freshman Leanne Mercier also was competing for the first time in high school and finished the day in 2nd place. Both girls picked up a pin along the way. The girls state meet is right around the corner on February 2nd at Adrian College where all 5 of these girls will be attempting to be Clinton's first girl state champ!
Spencer Konz wins #100!

Spencer Konz celebrated his birthday in style on Saturday with a championship in his bracket. Just as Notable, in the first match of the day he recorded win number 100. Spencer went on to win his next 3 to claim the title and now sits at 103 wins for his career. He was 3rd in the state last year after an 8th place finish as a freshman. Congrats Spencer!
