Clinton wrestling dominates individual district tournament

The varsity wrestling team had a historic day at the individual districts. The Redskins not only qualified all 14 to the individual regional tournament, they did it without losing a single match to a wrestler in a different singlet. Clinton entered 14 wrestlers in 12 weight classes and won all 12 weight classes with 2 seconds to teammates. The day started at 215 and Jack Voll rolled with a major decision and 2 pins to his title. Will Felts at heavyweight, as the number 1 seed advanced to the semi-finals and won both of his matches by pin to win the title. Connor Busz was entered at 103 and got 2 wins on his way to the final. In the Championship match he upset the number 1 ranked wrestler in D4 8-6. 112 pounds had an all Clinton final where Chase Packard beat Ethan Younts 7-4 for the title. Zak Shadley was entered at 119 and was seeded 3rd. He outdid that seed by beating the number 2 seed in the semi-finals before getting a pin in the final. Landis Gillman steamrolled his opponents with 3 pins on his way to the Championship. At 135 George Ames did the same getting 3 pins for his title. AJ Baxter went 3-0 with 2 pins for his title. Kent McCombs was the entry at 145 and he also went 3-0 for the day to claim his title. 160 was another all Redskin Final. Spencer Konz and Noah Deshano squared off and Konz earned the win 5-0. 171 was another showdown of high ranked Kids. Brayden Randolph (currently number 1) had division 4's number 3 ranked wrestler in the final and won 15-7 after getting to pins to advance to the final. The final match of the day featured Logan Badge at 189 and he continued his domination getting his 3rd pin of the day for the championship. The wrestling team will travel back to Lutheran Westland on Wednesday to compete in the team portion of regionals trying to advance to the final 8 for the 4th straight year before these 14 will compete in the regional individual portion on Saturday at Whitmore Lake.
