Win: 69 - 60

On a night meant for celebration, the Clinton Redwolves had different plans. The Hudson Tigers entered their homecoming game riding high, buoyed by an impressive victory over the Redwolves earlier in the season. But Clinton, hungry for revenge and eager to spoil the Tigers’ festivities, delivered a performance that showcased their resilience and growth.

The first quarter was a tightly contested battle, with both teams trading baskets as they settled into the game. The Tigers managed to gain a slight edge, leading 12-8 at the end of the opening frame. However, the Redwolves showed early signs that they weren’t going down without a fight.

In the second quarter, Clinton’s Jalen Stelzer began to make his presence felt, scoring key buckets to keep the Redwolves within striking distance. Thanks to his efforts, Clinton trailed by just one point at halftime, 22-21. It was clear the Redwolves were ready to make this a contest.

The turning point came in the second half when the Redwolves made critical adjustments on both ends of the floor. Defensively, they stifled Hudson’s attack, while offensively, Stelzer put on a clinic. The standout guard erupted for 18 points in the third quarter alone, igniting the Clinton offense and swinging the momentum decisively in the Redwolves’ favor.

Once Clinton found their groove, they never looked back. The Redwolves dominated the fourth quarter and cruised to a 69-60 victory, silencing the home crowd and sending a message to the rest of the league. The win highlighted the team’s ability to compete at a high level, a testament to their growth and determination over the past few weeks.

The Redwolves now shift their focus to next Tuesday’s pivotal matchup against the Madison Trojans at home. The Trojans handed Clinton a decisive loss earlier in the season, but with the Redwolves riding this wave of momentum, Tuesday’s game could have significant implications for playoff seedings.

The Stockbridge Panthers, boasting an impressive 12-3 record, traveled to Clinton on Tuesday night to take on a determined Redwolves team. Though the Panthers’ size and physicality ultimately secured the win, the Redwolves fought fiercely all night, making the game a hard-fought battle from start to finish.

Coming off a game the previous night, the Redwolves struggled to find their offensive rhythm early. Shots wouldn’t fall in the opening quarter, and the Panthers used their physical presence in the paint to establish an early lead. Despite their slow start, Clinton’s defense worked hard to keep the game within striking distance.

In the second quarter, the Redwolves settled in and began to fight back. With better ball movement and sharp defensive stops, they chipped away at the Panthers’ lead. Senior, Jalen Stelzer, ignited the offense with key buckets, helping Clinton cut the deficit to just 24-19 by halftime.

The second half saw both teams trading blows as the Redwolves stayed within striking distance. But the Panthers leaned on their size and depth to wear Clinton down in the final stretch. With some last minute free throws the Panthers pulled away, netting a 62-50 victory.  Throughout the game the Redwolves showcased their resilience and ability to play with some of the best basketball teams in Southeast Michigan.

Win: 55 - 41

The Clinton Redwolves entered Friday night's matchup with a chip on their shoulder, eager to avenge an early season loss to the Ida Bluestreaks. After a slow start, the Redwolves turned things around, showcasing their strength in the second half to pull away with a 55-41 victory.

Ida jumped out to an early lead, taking advantage of several trips to the free-throw line in the opening quarter. The Bluestreaks' ability to capitalize from the charity stripe helped them build a 12-8 advantage by the end of the first period.

However, Clinton wasn’t about to let the game slip away. Senior Jalen Stelzer put the team on his back in the second quarter, scoring at will and leading the Redwolves on an impressive run. Stelzer’s offensive outburst helped Clinton flip the script, and the Redwolves went into halftime with a 22-20 lead.

The momentum carried into the third quarter, where Clinton dominated both ends of the court. The Redwolves outscored Ida 17-8 in the period, with Stelzer continuing to lead the charge. The offense was clicking, while the defense put the clamps on the Bluestreaks, forcing several turnovers and limiting their scoring opportunities.

By the time the fourth quarter rolled around, Clinton had built a comfortable lead. The Redwolves never looked back, finishing off the game with a strong 55-41 win.

Stelzer finished with a game-high 24 points, leading all scorers. Andy Fair and Calen Keith each added 9 points, contributing to a balanced offensive effort.

The victory not only marked an important rebound for the Redwolves after that earlier loss to Ida, but it also set the stage for another crucial league matchup next Tuesday. Clinton will look to continue its momentum as they face Hillsdale in a game where they’ll be seeking redemption for an earlier defeat this season.

Lose: 75 - 82

The Clinton Redwolves battled hard throughout the game, but a hot start by the Hudson Tigers in the first quarter and some timely scoring by the Tigers in the final minutes helped them hold off a spirited comeback effort from Clinton, securing an 82-75 victory on Friday night.

Hudson came out of the gate with impressive intensity. Led by their fast-paced offense and sharp shooting, the Tigers took an early lead and dominated the opening quarter, outscoring Clinton 25-13. The Redwolves struggled to find a rhythm against the aggressive Hudson defense, but the Tigers' offense was firing on all cylinders.

However, Clinton wasn’t about to go down without a fight. Senior forward Jalen Stelzer was instrumental in the Redwolves' second-quarter comeback. His leadership and scoring ignited a spark for Clinton, as they slowly chipped away at the deficit. With Stelzer's offensive contributions, the Redwolves tightened the score to 36-29 by halftime, staying within reach of the Tigers.

In the third quarter, the Redwolves came out with renewed energy. Juniors Quinn Walden and Devon Trent, Senior Calen Keith, and Sophomore's Louie Della-Badia and Ronan Stelzer, all contributed crucial plays that helped Clinton mount a solid push. The Redwolves' defense stepped up, and their offense began to flow more efficiently. Despite their best efforts, they still found themselves trailing 62-51 at the end of the third quarter.

As the game entered the final frame, Clinton's chances looked slim, but they weren’t going down without one last fight. The Redwolves mounted a furious surge, with Stelzer, Walden, and Keith leading the charge. Despite the strong push, the Tigers' proved to be too much to overcome. Hudson's timely shots down the stretch ensured that they would hang on to the lead and win 82-75.

Clinton will look to bounce back when they take on the undefeated Onsted team next Tuesday, January 14th.

Lose: 38 - 53

Despite a hard-fought 53-38 loss to the Columbia Central Golden Eagles on Friday night, the Clinton Redwolves had a bright spot to celebrate. Senior guard Jalen Stelzer reached a major career milestone, surpassing 1,000 points in his high school basketball career. In addition, senior Calen Keith contributed 11 points in the loss, while other players like Chase Gillman and Louie Della-Badia added key contributions on the offensive end.  The Redwolves faced a tough opponent in the Golden Eagles and were already dealing with a challenging situation, missing three key players. Despite these absences, Clinton came out strong in the first half, trailing by just four points at halftime, 27-23. The Redwolves’ offense was efficient early, with Stelzer and Keith playing pivotal roles, and Clinton was able to keep pace with the Columbia Central size and speed.
Stelzer reached the 1,000-point mark early in the first quarter. With an early layup and a free throw, Stelzer reached the milestone, a moment that brought the home crowd to their feet. The senior finished the game with 11 points.  While the first half showed promise for the Redwolves, the second half proved to be a different story. Despite staying within striking distance early, Clinton struggled to generate offense after halftime, managing only 15 points in the entire second half.  The second half was really the difference in the game as the Redwolves had some open shots that we didn’t convert.  Despite the slow start to the season, there is a lot of season left, and the Redwolves are optimistic in the way they are trending.  The Redwolves will pick back up with league play on Thursday at home vs Ida.

Jalen Stelzer led the way for Clinton, scoring an impressive 27 points, but despite his standout performance, the Redwolves couldn’t hold off the Royals in the closing moments.
