On Friday, Jan. 28th Clinton traveled to Adrian College to participate in the Lenawee County All Star Meet.  The top four wrestlers in the county at each weight class are invited to participate at this special event.  Clinton had 13 automatic bids and one alternate out of 14 possible weight classes. Starting off Braylon Long earned a county championship at 103 pounds after defeating Diego Orozco from Adrian with a pin in the second period.  Then faced Caleb Potts of Addison in the finals and won 16-2 for the championship.  Connor Younts followed that up with a first round win at 112 pounds over Anjel Vasquez of Adrian with a 17-2 Technical Fall as he racked up multiple turns and near fall points on his way to victory.  Connor then defeated Tucker Miller of Hudson with a 5-1 decision to win the county championship.  At 119 pounds Connor Busz picked up a first round fall over Connor Deaton of Blissfield in the second period.  Busz then defeated returning all state wrestler Tristan Bolenbaugh of Hudson with a 5-3 decision to win the county championship at 119 pounds.  Zak Shadley would make it four county championships in a row for Clinton as he defeated Max Marten of Tecumseh with a 9-0 major decision before avenging an earlier season loss.  Zak defeated Austin Marry 5-3 for the county championship at 125 pounds.  Chase Packard competed at 130 pounds and had an off day and took fourth overall.  Coy Perry picked up another Clinton championship at 135 pounds as he defeated Cooper Barkway of Tecumseh with a first period pin.  Coy then defeated Jackson Miller 6-1 off two takedowns to win the championship.  Maurice Ames competed at 140 pounds and lost a tough first round match to Hudson's Payton Rogers.  But Maurice battled back to take third after defeating Jalonh Borders of Madison with a second period pin.  Ethan Younts finished runner up at 145 pounds after picking up a first round pin over Bennen Elizardo of Tecumseh and falling to Hudson's Bronson Marry in the finals.  Joey Preston placed third at 152 pounds after losing a tough match in the first round to Aiden Barnett of Hudson. Then bounced back for a pin over Landon Amaya of Tecumseh in the second period.  Kent McCombs started with a first period technical fall over Trace Tidswell of Tecumseh in round one, then pinned Calix Cambell of Hudson in just 38 second in the finals to claim the County Championship at 160 pounds.  Jake Felts lost in the first round to Jack Pifer of Sand Creek, but rebounded to place third after defeating Daniel Belanger of Addison with a pin in just 27 seconds.  Logan Badge was runner up at 189 pounds after defeating Tanel Bagrowski of Tecumseh with a pin in 56 seconds, but falling in the finals to Cameron Kimble of Hudson 3-2.  Brandon Felts finished the night with another County Championship for Clinton as he pinned Marcus Butler of Onsted in 59 seconds and pinned Cam Miller of Addison in 1:34 to earn the county championship at Heavyweight.  This year the county highlighted several girls matches for county championships and Clinton won both their matches they were entered in.  Faith Blackburn defeated Destyni Monroe of Sand Creek with a pin in 48 seconds to win a county championship.  Leanne Mercier defeated Taylor Hurse of Blissfield with a 4-0 decision to win a county championship.  Overall Clinton crowned 7 boys county champions and 2 girls county champions.  It was a great night for the Redwolves at a terrific event.  We look forward to hosting the LCAA Conference Championship on Saturday, Feb. 5th starting at 10am.  Our extra wrestlers will be traveling to Adrian Madison on Saturday, Feb. 5th to compete in their varsity individual tournament that starts at 9:30am.
