On Saturday, March 2nd the wrestlers had to win at least two matches on Friday to advance to the Saturday competition and all who competed on Saturday were named all state.  But all had to continue to win and advance in their placements.  Faith Blackburn started her Saturday morning off with an 8-4 win over Elliana Hillard of Dewitt to continue her climb on the podium.  She then earned a pin in 2:28 over Mekenzie Herrick of Dansville in the consultation semi finals to put herself in the 3rd place match.  In her last match of her high school career Faith finished with a great match that resulted in a pin over Terra Booe from Allendale in 2:28.  Faith finished as our programs first 4 time all state girl wrestler with her 3rd place finish on the weekend.  Congratulations Faith on a great tournament and a tremendous career.  Braylon Long finished his day climbing the podium as well.  In his opening match Saturday Braylon defeated Chris Campbell of Algonac 1-0 in a tough match.   Long then defeated someone who had beat him earlier in the season by defeating Quinton Everett of Chesaning with a 5-1 decision to put him in the match for 3rd place as well.  In his final match of the day Long faced Wyatt Burns from Dundee who had defeated him earlier in the tournament 2-1.  But Braylon made some adjustments and showed a lot of grit as he won 1-0 and placed 3rd overall to finish a great junior season.  Senior Nate Arntz opened his morning with a 4-1 win over Brady Demory of Gladwin, but dropped his next match to Gabe Machjer of Yale 10-8.  That put him in the match for 5th place where Nate picked up a pin in his final high school wrestling match over Carter Johnson of Reed City in 3:38.  Nate finished in 5th place at 106 pounds and all state as a senior.  Thank you for constantly battling throughout your entire career and finishing on top.

Maurice Ames opened his Saturday morning with a loss to Dominic D'Ambrosio of Imlay City that put him in the match for 7th place.  But unfortunately Maurice fell 5-2 to Lucas Leonard of Madison 5-2 to place 8th.  Maurice finished as a two time state placer and an outstanding career.  Maurice was one of our captains and his heart showed throughout the entire season with his love for his teammates and his work ethic.  Congratulations Maurice.  Sophomore Bryce Randolph's lone match on Saturday was in the State Championship Match.  Bryce competed hard but fell short losing 10-2 and finished his season as State Runner Up.  Great sophomore season.  Senior Captain Connor Younts completed his high school career in the state finals where he matched up with a multiple time state champion Cameron Chinavare.  Connor wrestled a great match and was in on three different single leg takedowns, but was unable to finish the takedown.  Connor came up short, losing 3-2 and finishing as the State Runner Up at 132 pounds.  Connor finishes his career as a 4 time District Champion, 4 time Regional Champion, 4 time all state wrestler and state champ.  Congratulations Connor on an outstanding career that has been one of the best in Clinton history.  Now that the season has ended and we start to look back at the memories and look ahead toward the future we want to thank the five seniors for everything they have given and brought to the program and encourage the underclassman to work hard in the off season to continue the Clinton Wrestling Success.
