Win: 36 - 32
The Clinton JV girls basketball team outscored Dundee 20-11 in the fourth quarter complete a 36-32 comeback win over the Vikings, on Thursday, in Clinton. Until the fourth quarter, Dundee lead much of the game as a result of Clinton’s off shooting night.  Coach Frederick commented “We shot 18% from the floor tonight and we still came away with the win.  Just shows the defense intensity tonight when we ran both the 1-3-1 and full court press.”  Clinton scored 20 points in the 4th quarter behind their tenacious full court press lead by Clara Luque’s 9 steals.  “Clara’s vision of the court enabled her to attack passing lanes and steal the ball leading to layups.  Without her vision tonight we do not win this game.”  Commented coach Frederick.  Mieah Rodriguez lead Clinton with 10 points and both Eden Frederick and Clara Helguera pitched in 8 points apiece.  Frederick dominated the boards with 15 while both Finnley Faulkner and Helguera grabbed 13 each.  Clinton tries to make it four in a row when Napoleon visits next Tuesday.

Lose: 35 - 37
Both the Hudson and Clinton girls JV teams came out aggressively last Friday night and the game ended in the same fashion. The entertaining game was neck and neck the entire way through and nobody could tell which team had the edge. It all came down to 2.7 seconds left in the game with Clinton leading 35 – 34, but a missed free throw by Clinton and a half-court shot by Hudson that rattled in, left the JV girls with a 37 – 35 loss.  Coach David Frederick said “One of the best games I have seen our girls play the entire season.  We continue to improve on both our transition offense and 1-3-1 defense.  We will learn from this one and be ready for them when we play them at home later on this season”.  Mieah Rodriguez led all scorers with 17 points and dished out 4 assists.  Eden Frederick played aggressively on both the defensive side of the ball and secured 12 rebounds and pitched in 6 points for the Redwolves.  Clara Luque had a big night by giving the team a chance to win the game by hitting a last second shot to take the lead with 20 seconds remaining.  She also led the team in steals with 6, while Finnley Faulkner had her best game of the season with 6 rebounds and 6 points.  The Redwolves will try to get back on the winning track when BD visits on Monday.
