The Clinton JV girls basketball team outscored Dundee 20-11 in the fourth quarter complete a 36-32 comeback win over the Vikings, on Thursday, in Clinton.
Until the fourth quarter, Dundee lead much of the game as a result of Clinton’s off shooting night. Coach Frederick commented “We shot 18% from the floor tonight and we still came away with the win. Just shows the defense intensity tonight when we ran both the 1-3-1 and full court press.” Clinton scored 20 points in the 4th quarter behind their tenacious full court press lead by Clara Luque’s 9 steals. “Clara’s vision of the court enabled her to attack passing lanes and steal the ball leading to layups. Without her vision tonight we do not win this game.” Commented coach Frederick.
Mieah Rodriguez lead Clinton with 10 points and both Eden Frederick and Clara Helguera pitched in 8 points apiece. Frederick dominated the boards with 15 while both Finnley Faulkner and Helguera grabbed 13 each. Clinton tries to make it four in a row when Napoleon visits next Tuesday.
