The JV boys basketball team took on Hudson Friday night. The Redwolves started fast in the first quarter and got out to a 10 point lead. The quarter ended with the Redwolves up 18-11, 10 of those points coming from Cole Hillegonds. The second quarter was a slow quarter allowing Hudson to close the gap. The Redwolves took a 28-23 lead into halftime. At halftime the Redwolves found some renewed energy and dominated from there. The Redwolves took of and separated quickly from Hudson and never looking back. The boys won the quarter 25-2, with sophomore leadership showing in full force with Owen Barnhart scoring 10 in the quarter and Dacari Garrison scoring 9. The 4th quarter everyone got to play and get better ending in a 63-35 win for the JV Redwolves. Owen Barnhart led the team with 16 points, Cole Hillegonds had 12 points, Dacari Garrison had 11 points. Both Paul Blanchard, and Jacob Pizio had 8 points. Max Walden, and Cyle McLeod added 3 points. Brandon Ruhl also added 2 points. The JV Redwolves will look to continue their success against Onsted at their place on Tuesday January 14th.

After Christmas break the JV Redwolves traveled to Jonesville High School. The boys started strong with a couple Daejuan Garrison 3 point shots and took the first quarter 13-8. The second quarter the offense took a while to get going but the defense held strong the whole quarter. Finally after 6 minutes the offense took off scoring 8 points in 2 minutes to win the quarter 8-6 and take a 21-14 lead into halftime. Offensively the Redwolves took off out of the halftime break, scoring 24 in the third quarter, 8 of those coming from Dacari Garrison. The boys played well and finished out the game with a 55-46 victory on the road improving to 5-3 on the year! Daejuan Garrison led all scorers with 19 points, Cole Hillegonds added 11 points while Dacari Garrison added 10 points. Owen Barnhart had 6 points and Cyle Mcleod added another 3 points. Zack Andrews, Paul Blanchard, and Zeke Turner added 2 points. The JV Redwolves will be back playing at home Friday vs Hudson on Winter Homecoming night!
The JV Redwolves got out to a fast start in a bounce back game, scoring 18 points in the first quarter while holding the bluestreaks to 9 points. The boys held onto that defensive effort even when the offense slowed up. The Redwolves won 3 of the 4 quarters in the game and held on to win 52-44. Dacari Garrison, and Cole Hillegonds led the team with 13 points each. Zeke Turner had 9 points, Cyle Mcleod had 4 points. Max Walden, Zack Andrews, and Paul Blanchard added 3 points. Daejuan Garrison, and Jacob Pizio added 2 points as well in the win. The boys will be back in action Monday January 6th, at Jonesville high school>
On Monday Night the JV Redwolves looked to build winning momentum against a tough Columbia Central program. It was defensive battle throughout and was a very well played game on both sides. Both sides were tied after the first quarter with 8 a piece. Columbia central gained right before half taking a 19-14 lead into halftime, but the Redwolves jumped out and had a great third quarter tying it up at 27 to end the third quarter. Columbia Central got hot in the fourth and ended up walking away with a 41-32 win. The boys played with a ton of enthusiasm and played great defense. Ultimately shots didn't fall in the 4th quarter but the Redwolves are hungry to get better. Cyle McLeod led the team with 9 points, Cole Hillegonds had 8 points, Paul Blanchard, and Daejuan Garrison both added 5 points, Drew Erickson added 5, and Max Walden added 2 points. The boy will be eager to get back in the win column on Thursday at home against Ida.
The boys JV basketball team followed up a tough loss with a great team performance, showing their resiliency to get better. The Redwolves started slow in the first quarter losing it 11-9 to Blissfield. From their on the boys dominated the rest of the game. Winning the 2nd and 3rd quarter by a combined 15 points. Playing efficient offense and constricting defense allowed the boys to gain on the scoreboard. Leading to a 51-39 win for the Redwolves. The boys will look to continue to grow from this game and keep getting better! Cole Hillegonds led the team with 13 points, Dacari and Daejuan Garrison both added 11 points, Paul Blanchard had 6 points, Ronan Stelzer had 4 points, Owen Barnhart, and Max Walden added 3 points.
On Tuesday the JV boys had their first road test and it was a tough one. Madison had blitzing defensive pressure, and the Redwolves struggled to adjust. Madison jumped to an early lead and never looked back. The most impressive thing for the Redwolves was their resolve and want to figure out the issues. In the first half we were outscored 28-12. The boys went into half wanting to figure it out and played much better in the second half playing even with them and winning the 4th quarter. Ultimately the boys fell to Madison 52-35. Drew Erickson was a great consistent leader for the team on the defensive end of the floor. Owen Barnhart led the team in scoring with 11 points. Cole Hillegonds had 10 points. Paul Blanchard added 4 points. Cyle McLeod, Dacari Garrison, Ronan Stelzer, and Brandon Ruhl added 2 points each. While Daejuan Garrison, and Jacob Pizio added a point to the total. The Redwolves will look to bounce back next time out!
On Friday evening the JV Redwolves looked to redeem a loss earlier in the week. The Redwolves started great on both ends of the floor jumping out to an early 19-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. Multiple people contributed offensively and the team as a whole had stifling defense. Cole Hillegonds had an 8 point quarter to jumpstart the offense. The second quarter offense slowed only scoring 10 but only gave up 6 points with the group effort on defense. Heading into halftime the Redwolves were up 29-15. The third quarter was a little bit of a flipped script, the defense started to lapse and let the Hornets claw back within ten in the third quarter. Owen Barnhart led the way offensively in this quarter scoring 8 of the 9 points in the quarter. Despite the bad third quarter the Redwolves still led 38-31. In the fourth quarter the team bonded back together and finished strong scoring 23 points in the final quarter. Overall the boys played as a group and played well enough to cover up some mistakes, which is a testament to them as a team. When it matter the most the boys rose to the occasion and Finished with a score of 61-44. Cole Hillegonds led all scores with 16 points, Owen Barnhart also had 14 points. Dacari Garrison, and Brandon Ruhl had 6 points. Max Walden had 5 points, Cyle McLeod, and Zack Andrews had 3 points. Daejuan Garrison, Paul Blanchard, Zeke Turner, and Jacob Pizio added 2 points. The JV Boys are back in action Tuesday December 10th at Madison High School!
On Tuesday night the JV Boys basketball team played against cross town Tecumseh. The game started slow for the Redwolves as the Indians pressured the ball really well. Tecumseh took the first quarter 17-6. Dacari Garrison, and Cole Hillegonds had the 6 points in that quarter. The boys took that first quarter as a lesson and battled themselves right back into the game in the second quarter. Picking up the defensive pressure, pushing the ball up the floor, and being great teammates passing the ball around. This led to an 18 point second quarter with Paul Blanchard, and Daejuan Garrison adding their names to the scoresheet. At halftime the Redwolves trailed 24-30. The Redwolves again had a slow start to the third quarter with the pressure from Tecumseh. Falling behind again by double digits the Redwolves again decided to fight back into the game with Cole Hillegonds having a big quarter om the offensive end scoring 8 of the 10 points. The third quarter finished with Tecumseh leading 34-46. In the fourth quarter the Redwolves made a big push to win the game. Again playing as a collective unit on both ends of the floor the Redwolves were within 4 points with a minute left to play. Owen Barnhart hit a late three to cut the lead to 2 points but it was too late. The Redwolves fell 55-53, in a great game with many lessons learned. The team fought till the very end no matter the score and had great enthusiasm for each other throughout the whole game. Cole Hillegonds led the team with 20 points, Dacari Garrison, Daejuan Garrison, and Owen Barnhart all added 8 points. Paul Blanchard added 5 points, and Max Walden added 2. The Redwolves are eager to get to play again Friday December 6th, at home against Hillsdale.
On Tuesday the JV Redwolves began their season at home against Manchester. As most first games go the Redwolves started slow but with the help of a couple three point makes from Owen Barnhartt and Drew Erickson the boys took the first quarter 13-10. In the second quarter the team defense picked up quickly only allowing 6 points in the quarter, while Dacari Garrison was able to knock down a long range shot alongside 4 second quarter points from Cole Hillegonds. Redwolves went into halftime up 26-16. In the second half the Redwolves started to separate from the Flying Dutchmen scoring 10 quick points to go up 36-16. From there everyone got involved in the offense and led to a final score of 51-32. It was a great first game showing for the team with a lot of room to get even better. Cole Hillegonds led all scorers with 15 points, 11 of those coming in the second half. Owen Barnhartt had 11 points, and Max Walden had 6 points with two fourth quarter long range shots. Daejuan Garrison had 5 points, Dacari Garrison and Drew Erickson both had 3 points. Cyle McLeod, Zack Andrews, Paul Blanchard, and Brandon Ruhl all added 2 points. Overall a great team effort, where every player on the team got to contribute on the floor. The JV Boys Basketball team will be back in action Tuesday, December 3rd back at home against Tecumseh, Tip-off at 5:30pm.
