The junior varsity Redwolves were finally able to start their season on Monday night in the opening game at Wegner field this season. In a hard fought battle with the Bluestreaks of Ida, they fell short losing a tight one 14-12. The night was started by the Redwolves’ Dacari Garrison scoring on a short 1 yard scamper to put Clinton up 6-0. Ida would respond right before half and heading into the locker room the teams were all knotted up at 6 to 6. The 3rd quarter would turn into a defensive battle with both teams battling for each and every yard. Ida would eventually break through with a touchdown scamper and a 2 point conversion to put them up 14-6. The Redwolves would not go away easily though. After forcing a Bluestreaks punt, sophomore Clifford Jones would get in the backfield to tackle the punter and give Clinton great field position. Two plays later, quarterback Jaren Settles would connect with Garrison for a 25 yard touchdown pass to get the score to 14-12. The two point conversion would come up just short, and the final score would be 14-12. It was a great hard fought opening night on the gridiron and the JV team looks to improve for their next home contest against Adrian Madison, next Monday September 18th, 6:30 pm kickoff.
