Clinton Varsity Football Team won their 4th straight District Championship in a row as they defeated perennial power Monroe St. Mary’s Catholic Central 22-14  at Wegner Stadium on Friday, Nov. 3rd.   The first two drives for each team resulted in touchdowns and Clinton went for two and converted the two point conversions to hold a 16-14 lead until the fourth quarter where Clinton put another one in the endzone to finish the scoring. Clinton rushed for 260 yards on 36 carries and passed for another 10 yards.  SMCC rushed for 154 yards on 37 carries and passed for 16 yards.  Clinton was only penalized twice, which was a vast difference from the game before.  That was something the team needed to improve on and did.  Nik Shadley had 142 yards on 11 carries and scored a 78 yard touchdown on the second play of the game.  Bryce Randolph punched in the two point conversion.  Jake Felts had 52 yards on 12 carries and a two point conversion.  Bryce Randolph had 37 yards on 5 carries and had a 26 yard touchdown.  Cole Breitenwischer had 29 yards on 7 carries and a 10 yard touchdown.   Andy Fair was 2 for 5 passing for 10 yards, with Nik Shadley catching both passes.  Pancake blocks were by Wyatt Hicks with 3, Nate Page 2, Hamza Rafferty, and Cade Brighton with one each.  Defensively Clinton held time and time again to shut SMCC out in three quarters.  Bryce Randolph led the defense with 14 tackles, Wyatt Hicks had 9 tackles, Jake Felts and Teddy Pizio had 6 tackles each.  Bryce Rosacrans and Wyatt Hicks each had a sack.  Tackles for a loss were made by Jake Felts with 4, Wyatt Hicks and Bryce Randolph with 3 each, Cole Breitenwischer and Bryce Rosacrans with one each.  There were also two unsung players that stepped up for our team in seniors Brandon Johnson and Wyatt Federer.  Both were ready and prepared when the team needed them and you can not find that on any stat line.  Both young men work hard, are team first players and are a huge reason we played the way we were able.  Thank you to both of those young for being ready when their number was called.

Offensive Player of the Game was Nate Page as he was able to help control the line of scrimmage and help communicate on the line.  Defensive Player of the Game was Wyatt Hicks with 9 tackles, a sack, and 3 tackles for a loss.  Special Teams Player of the Game was Brandon Johnson for his containment and discipline to do his job.  Red Army Players of the Week were Kaden Thompson and Jayden Duplessis for their job during the week helping to get our team ready.  Captain of the Week is Bryce Randolph for his consistency and leadership.

During the week the Division 7 All Region Team was chosen.  Clinton had six players chosen to be on the all region team.  There is only a first team all region team, there is no second team or honorable mention, and players can only be chosen on offense or defense, not both.  Once coaches nominate players they are not allowed to vote for their own players.  So getting six on the all region team is an accomplishment.  Congratulations to Wyatt Hicks and Nate Page for all region offensive line.  Nik Shadley for all region offensive back.  Congratulations to Cole Breitenwischer for all region linebacker, Teddy Pizio for all region defensive line, and to Joey Preston for all region defensive back.

This Friday Clinton will travel to Jackson Lumen Christi for the Regional Championship game at 7pm.  We are excited about the opportunity to play for another regional championship and hope to see you there cheering on your Redwolves.
