On Thursday, Aug. 31st Clinton Varsity Football traveled to Detroit Central High School for a non conference game.  Clinton came out on top 58-20 to even their season record at 1-1.  Central opened the scoring with an 84 yard touchdown pass to go up 6-0.  Clinton then went to the ground to rack up 554 yards in rushing as a team.  Nik Shadley led all rushers with 207 yards on 17 attempts with 4 touchdowns.  Jake Felts racked up 190 yards on 17 attempts and 2 touchdowns.  Cole Breitenwischer added 60 yards on 9 carries and a touchdown.  Bryce Randolph had 5 carries for 36 yards, Joey Preston had 2 carries for 21 yards, Brenden Benschoter had 1 carry for 20 yards and a touchdown.  Andy Fair had 6 carries for 20 yards, Macray Connors had a carry, and Ian Williams added a two point conversion.  Detroit Central was held to 42 yards rushing as a team.  Andy Fair was 1 for 5 passing for 9 yards and an interception.  Brandon Johnson had one catch for 9 yards.  Central was 11 for 22 passing for 252 yards and 2 touchdowns.  

Nik Shadley had three kickoff returns for 53 yards.  Leading the offense with pancake blocks were Nate Page with 3, Teddy Pizio and Mason Brodie with two each, and Wyatt Hicks, Joey Preston, Brandon Johnson, Jake Felts, and Bryce Rosacrans all with one each.  

Defensively Teddy Pizio had a fumble recovery, a sack, and a tackle for a loss to go along with two tackles.  Bryce Randolph had a fumble recovery, 3 tackles for losses, and 4 tackles on the night.  Wyatt Hicks had two tackles for losses, two sacks, and a tackle.  Jake Felts had a pass break up, and two tackles.  Cade Brighton had 1 tackle, a sack, and a tackle for a loss.  Others with sacks were Jack Gilroy along with two tackles.  Pass break ups were from Wyatt Federer and Andy Fair with 1 apiece, and Brenden Benschoter with 2.  

Offensive Player(s) of the game were the offensive line for their blocking as a unit.  Tyrus Hayes, Wyatt Hicks, Teddy Pizio, Hamza Rafferty, Nate Page, Mason Brodie, Cade Brighton, Brandon Johnson, and Bryce Rosacrans.  The defensive player of the game was Teddy Pizio. Special Teams Player of the Game was Bryce Randolph, and Red Army Player of the Game was Brenden Benschoter.  Captain of the Week is Jake Felts for his leadership during the game.  Next up Clinton travels to Ida on Friday, September 8th at 7pm.
