Girls Middle School Volleyball vs. Hanover Horton Tournament

The 8th Grade Girls Volleyball team went 4-2 during pool play this Saturday as the Hanover-Horton Tournament.  They defeated East Jackson (25-22, 25-12) and split with both Lenawee Christian (7-25, 25-18) and Michigan Center (19-25, 25-15).  The Redskins fell in the semifinals to Hanover-Horton with scores of 20-25 and 14-25.  

Kyleigh Ramos was the top server on the day.  She scored an impressive 33 points and had 17 aces.  Other top scorers were Stella Starnes with 18 points/9aces, Robin Mull with 9 points/3aces, Sammy Starnes with 7 points/4aces and Rebeca Ureche with 6 points/3 aces.  

Leading the offense were setters Kyleigh Ramos and Nalani Schanz.  Stella Starnes recorded 10 kills, Sammy Starnes had 6 kills and Chloe Drew had 4 kills.  Rebeca Ureche, Sammy Starnes, Shay Vanzandt, and Robin Mull all had excellent serve reception on the day. 

The Redskins will play the Summerfield Bulldogs on Monday, September 16 with game time at 5:30 PM. 

 

7th Grade Girls Volleyball 

Hanover Horton Tournament Results

Last  Saturday the 7th grade Girls Volleyball team participated in an All-Day Volleyball Tournament at  Hanover Horton Community Schools.  Clinton had a slow start during Pool Play as they split with Jonesville 17-15, 25-13 lost two to Grass Lake 26-27, 20-25 then split with  with Hanover Horton 19-25, 25-23. Grass Lake was the first place team coming out of Pool A The Redskins were in a 3-way tie with the remaining teams with their 2-4 overall record. Clinton won the tie-breaker with the better point deferential  and were able to sneak into the Gold Bracket Play-offs.

Clinton was paired up against the #1 team in Pool B, Lenawee Christian with a 5-1 record. During the Semi-Finals Clinton caught on fire and were merely unstoppable. They defeated LCS 25-17, 25-15. The revised Clinton team  advanced to the Gold Finals with a rematch against the Tournament’s #1 team Grass Lake, who defeated them early in Pool Play. The Redskins’ determination to go against Grass Lake was flawless. Clinton jumped out to an early lead with strong serving and aggressive  net play to take the first Set 25-13. Grass Lake made a slight push during the 2nd Set but the Redskins battled back using awesome passing and aggressive attacks for the win 25-18 and captured the Championship Trophy.  Coach Cornish was so proud of the players will to win and for their team unity during the tournament. Congratulations Girls!!!
