The Redwolves traveled to MIS on Saturday represented by the Boys team and Ella Claus in the Michigan cross country championships. The boys' team has gone to the state finals in five of the last six years, an ongoing tradition for this team.
Gabe Manchester ran the fastest time for a male Clinton runner since Dominic Muessig in 2012 with a time of 16:37.6 finishing 51st overall. Austin Strand and Zach Taylor each broke 18 minutes for the first time running 17:52.0 and 17:56.6 respectively. Eric Ramsey ran a time of 18:09.7 while dealing with a minor injury. Ronan Stelzer had a season best time of 19:17.7 and Jacob Pizio a personal best time of 19:18.1. Peter Baker rounded out the boys' squad also with a personal best of 20:11.5. With five sophomores on the team, the tradition has a good chance of continuing next year.
Ella Claus continued the recent series of strong performances by female athletes in Clinton running a personal best of 20:55.7 finishing under 21 minutes for the first time. Ella is the 8th fastest runner in Clinton history and is now the third fastest freshman for Clinton.
The boys' team earned Academic All State status as a team and Gabe Manchester, Ronan Stelzer and Peter Baker all earned Individual Academic All State honors.

With a strong effort at Willow Metropark, the Boys Cross Country team finished 3rd to upset Blissfield in MHSAA LP Finals qualifying at the Region 27-3 meet today. Predicted 6th, each runner had either a season best or a personal best time to finish with 96 points to Blissfield's 108. Flat Rock won the meet with 43 points and Erie Mason was second with 89 points.
Gabe Manchester led the team, finishing 6th with a new PR of 16:56.30 giving him a spot on the record board as the 5th fastest senior in Clinton history. Eric Ramsey also medaled while finishing 12th with a time of 17:47.8. Austin Strand and Zach Taylor each had PR's and finished well above expectations finishing 17th (18:10.90) and 19th (18:13.00). Ronan Stelzer finished out the scoring in 43rd while also running a season best of 19:24.20. Jacob Pizio finished 44th with a personal best time of 19:24.80 and Peter Baker finished 54th while also running a personal best time of 20:32.20.
In the girls race, freshman Ella Claus qualified for the state finals by continuing her fast times finishing 9th while running a personal record of 21:04.90. Sarah King fought through an injured hip and ran her best time of the year at 23:57.40 and Ryan Handy continues her dramatic improvement this season with a personal best time of 24:40.7.
The boys team and Ella Claus will all run at the state championships at MIS this Saturday.
On Saturday, October 12, the Redwolves Cross Country team traveled to Gerber Hill Park in Blissfield for the Lenawee County Championships. At the meet, the boys finished 6th out of 12 teams with Gabe Manchester finishing fourth overall running a season best time of 17:22.59 and Eric Ramsey finishing 16th in 18:24.28. For the girls, Ella Claus ran a personal best time of 21:49.76 in finishing 11th overall. Ryan Handy also had a personal best time on the day for the second consecutive meet with a time of 26:22.24.
Next Saturday, the team travels once again to Hudson for the LCAA championship.
On Saturday, October 5, the Redwolves Cross Country teams traveled to the Hudson Booster Invitational. A total of 18 teams competed in the Upper Division Race and the boys team finished 8th overall.
The boys were led by medalists Gabe Manchester who finished 11th, Eric Ramsey (29th), and Zach Taylor who ran a personal best time of 18:52 while finishing 39th. Austin Strand also ran a personal best time of 18:54.
In the girls' race, Ella Claus won a medal by finishing 19th with a personal best time of 22:10. Ryan Handy also ran a personal best time of 26:41.9.
Also, this week on the 2nd, the Redwolves ran at Gerber Hill Park in Blissfield for the second LCAA Jamboree. The boys finished 3rd overall of the 8 teams. Gabe Manchester led the team in 7th, Eric Ramsey was 13th, and Zach Taylor and Austin Strand ran their previous personal bests of 19:06 and 19:09 while finishing 17th and 18th. In the girls race, Ella Claus also ran her previous best time of 22:41 while finishing 14th overall.
This Saturday, the team starts championship season returning to Gerber Hill Park for the Lenawee County Championship.
On Saturday, September 28, the Clinton High School Cross Country team hosted the Redwolves Invitational at Riverbend Friends Church. Gabe Manchester finished second with a time of 17:51.59 in leading the boys' team to a second-place finish. Ella Claus finished 2nd in the girls' race with a time of 22:53.92.
Rounding out the scoring for the boys team were Eric Ramsey (7th), Austin Strand (9th with a new personal best time), Zachary Taylor (10th) and Ronan Stelzer (15th). Peter Baker also had a personal best time in finishing 21st overall.
The Redwolves travel to Gerber Hill Park for the 2nd LCAA Jamboree of the season on Wednesday.
On Saturday, September 21, the Redwolves cross country team traveled to one of the larger meets in the state, the Jackson Invitational. It was a good meet for the team as they continue to show improvement on the season. The top 5 runners for the guys all had season best times even on a hotter day than normal for this meet. Gabe Manchester finished in the medals in 17th place. Zach Taylor had a personal best time of 19:07.41. Ryan Handy was the only girl to race on Saturday due to some illness and she had a season best time for herself. They boys finished 9th overall against some strong competition.
Our next meet is the Redwolves Invitational on Saturday, September 28 at Riverbend Friends Church in Tecumseh. Come and cheer on the team before heading to the Fall Festival. Racing begins with an open race (1.1 miles) for elementary students at 8:30. The middle school boys race at 9:00 followed by the girls at 9:30. The varsity boys race at 10:00 and the girls follow at 10:45. An open race (5k) for all who are interested including adults will follow the girls race at 11:30. On Friday, September 13, the Redwolves Cross Country team traveled to East Lansing for the MSU Spartan Invitational. The boys team finished 10th out of 35 teams led by Gabe Manchester who ran a season best and his course best time of 17:48.4. He finished 18th overall in earning a medal in the event.
Out of 302 runners competing, Eric Ramsey who had his course best time of 19:15.7 in finishing 65th, Zach Taylor (90th), Austin Strand (124th), Ronen Stelzer with a season best time of 21:02.6 (138th), Jacob Pizio with his course best time of 22:08.6 (179th), Hudson Miller with a PR of 22:18.4 (185th), Peter Baker (199th), and Aidan Grimm (201st).
For the girls, out of 266 runners, Ella Claus was 120th, Sarah King (157th), and Ryan Handy (204th).
Also on Tuesday the 10th, the team ran in the first LCAA Jamboree of the season at Madison High School, with the boys finishing 4th, led by Gabe Manchester in 6th, Eric Ramsey in 15th, Zach Taylor (16th) and Austin Strand (18th). In the girls race, Ella Claus finished 16th.
The next meet will be the Jackson Invitational at Ella Sharp Park on Saturday, September 21.
The Redwolves Cross Country teams traveled to Hudson Area High School for the Hudson Early Season Invitational. The boys team finished second to Wauseon at the meet and both teams picked up lots of medals in the 5k race.
Leading the boys team was Gabe Manchester who finished 3rd. Also medaling on the day were Eric Ramsey (8th), Zach Taylor (10th), Austin Strand (13th), Ronan Stelzer (14th), Jacob Pizio (18th), Jack Morgan (20th), and Aidan Grimm (24th).
Leading the girls was Ella Claus who finished 5th. Also medaling on the day were Sarah King (11th), and Ryan Handy (23rd).
The Redwolves next compete at the first LCAA Jamboree at Madison High School on September 10th.
The Redwolves traveled to Tecumseh High School to run in the annual Lenawee County Preview meet. Gabe Manchester led the boys team earning a medal placing 6th. Ella Claus also earned a medal while placing 18th in the girls race.

On Friday, August 16, the Redwolves Cross Country team opened the season by hosting the Clinton Grass Relays at Riverbend Friends Church. In an unusual format, there were two-person teams (with one exception) alternating running approximately one mile a total of three times which resulted in each person running a 5k of total distance. Teams from Dundee and Homer joined Clinton at the inaugural event. Dundee won the boys relay and Homer won the girls relay.
In the boys relay, the team of Zach Taylor and Gabe Manchester finished 3rd overall, Austin Strand and Ronen Stelzer finished 5th, and Hudson Miller and Aidan Grimm finished 8th. In the girls relay the team of Ryan Handy, and Sarah King and Ella Claus (who ran the same leg together) finished 4th.
The Redwolves will run their first standard meet this coming Saturday at Tecumseh High School. The Lenawee County Preview meet will begin at 8:30 AM with the boys race and the girls will follow at 9:00.
