Boys JV Picks up Non-League Win at Madison
2.0 years ago | Greg Dutton
Win: 47 - 40
The boys JV basketball team traveled to Adrian Madison Friday evening for a rare Friday night non-league matchup. With Madison set to join the LCAA next season, this would be the only matchup this year between the two teams. The Redwolves were able to gain some control of the game in the third quarter to earn a hard fought 47-40 win and improve to 13-2 overall on the season.  Madison built an early lead as the Redwolves struggled to get going against the Madison press. However, the Redwolves made some adjustments to outscore the Trojans 19-8 in the second quarter and flip the game in their favor to take a 27-22 halftime lead. Clinton was able to build on the lead in the third quarter thanks in large part to their stellar play on the defensive end, holding Madison to 7 points in the quarter. With a 38-29 lead heading into the fourth quarter, the Redwolves were able to fend off the Trojans down the stretch to earn the win.  Calen Keith had a huge night, scoring 18 points, including 4 three point baskets, while also grabbing 9 rebounds. Chase Gillman reached double figures finishing with 10 points. Brodie Stipe provided big minutes chipping in with 5 points off the bench. Quinn Walden and Teagan Zbikowski added 4 points each, Eli Turner, Devon Trent, and Preston Cruz rounded out the scoring with 2 points each. Clinton will get back to LCAA play next Tuesday as they head to Columbia Central.
Boy JV Basketball Runs Past Hudson
2.0 years ago | Greg Dutton
Win: 61 - 22
The Clinton boys JV basketball team had everything working right on Thursday night at Hudson. Facing Hudson for the second time this season, this game seemed to be intriguing on paper. The first time the two teams met, the game wasn't decided until late when Clinton pulled ahead for a seven point win. This game was quite the opposite as the Redwolves cruised to a 61-22 victory to improve to 12-2 overall and 7-2 in the LCAA. Clinton got off to a hot start as Devon Trent knocked down three first quarter 3-point baskets to help build a 17-5 first quarter lead. Quinn Walden carried the team in the second quarter with 7 points as Clinton built a 33-11 lead. Calen Keith made sure to keep the Tigers at distance in the third quarter as he heated up and poured in 9 points in the quarter. The fourth quarter saw multiple Redwolves reach the scoring column.  Devon Trent led the way with 13 points, all coming in the first half. Calen Keith reached double figures with 11 points as did Eli Turner who added 10 points. Keith also grabbed 8 rebounds, handed out 4 assists, and swiped 4 steals. Quinn Walden contributed 7 points, Teagan Zbikowski finished with 6 points, and Brodie Stipe added 5 points to go with his 3 steals. Rounding out the scoring was Jaren Settles who finished with 4 points, Preston Cruz 3 points, and Gabe Manchester with 2 points.  The Redwolves will have a quick turnaround with a game tomorrow night on the road at Madison.
Boys JV Hoops Edges Whiteford at Lourdes University
2.0 years ago | Greg Dutton
Win: 47 - 44
The boys JV basketball traveled to Lourdes University on Saturday afternoon to take on the Bobcats of Whiteford from the TCC conference. The game would not be settled until the final buzzer as Clinton would prevail with hard fought 47-44 win to improve to 11-2 overall. Much of the first half was a back and forth contest as Whiteford would lead after the first quarter by a score of 12-10. The Redwolves would get some control in the second quarter and go into halftime up 23-21. Clinton extended the lead in the quarter to 32-27 where they would hang on for the win, thanks in large part to putting the game away at the free throw line, going 9 for 12 from the line in the final quarter.  Calen Keith and Quinn Walden each scored 15 points apiece. They would also grab 7 rebounds apiece, and Keith dished out 3 assists. Chase Gillman added 6 points, all coming in the second half. Preston Cruz 4 points, Brodie Stipe 3 points, Gabe Manchester 3 points, and Devon Trent 1 point completed the scoring for the Redwolves.  The JV team will get back to work next Thursday with a road game at Hudson.
Boys JV Basketball Sweeps Blissfield
2.0 years ago | Greg Dutton
Win: 56 - 43
The boys JV basketball team began the second round of the LCAA play with a home game against Blissfield. The team was ready to play from the start building a 12 point first quarter lead and never looked back to win by a score of 56-43. The win improves the JV record to 10-2 overall and 6-2 in the LCAA.  Calen Keith and Quinn Walden got things started in the first quarter with Keith scoring 8 points and Walden 7 points in the opening quarter. The scoring slowed a bit in the second quarter, but the defense  held serve, allowing only six points in the second quarter as the Redwolves went into halftime with a commanding 32-13 lead.  The second half was not as pretty as the first, but that was in large part due to Blissfield. However, the first half lead that the Redwolves built was too much to overcome for the Royals as Clinton would close the game out going 7 for 8 from the free throw line in the second half.  Eli Turner led the way with 12 points while also grabbing 13 rebounds. Quinn Walden finished with 11 points and Calen Keith would reach double figures with 10 points. Also reaching the scoring column this evening was Teagan Zbikowski with 6 points, Jayden German and Jaren Settles with 4 points, Brodie Stipe 3 points, and Chase Gillman, Preston Cruz, and Devon Trent would all add 2 points each. The JV boys teams will be back in action on Saturday as the face Whiteford at Lourdes University for a 1:00PM start time.
Boys JV Basketball Rolls Past Hillsdale
2.0 years ago | Greg Dutton
Win: 60 - 33
The boys JV basketball team returned to their home court Tuesday evening to close out the first round of LCAA play against the Hillsdale Hornets. The Redwolves rolled to a 60-33 win over the visitors to improve to 9-2 overall and 5-2 in the LCAA.  Despite making only 5 of 16 free throws on the evening, and only managing to find the basket on one three point attempt, Clinton was able to build an early lead and cruise through the 2nd half. It was the defense that made the most noise again, as Clinton held HIllsdale down to single digits for each of the first three quarters to go into the 4th quarter with a 45-22 lead.  Quinn Walden led the Redowolves in the scoring column with 12 points while also adding 3 assists and swiping 3 steals. Devon Trent added 11 points to go with his 7 rebounds. Calen Keith was the third Redwolves player to reach double figures as he added 10 points. Eli Turner finished with an impressive 14 rebounds to go with his 4 points and 3 steals. Chase Gillman would add 9 points, Teagan Zbikowski 6 points, Angel Rubio 4 points, and Jayden German 2 points to round out the scoring for Clinton on the evening.  The Redwolves will be back in action Friday evening for Homecoming against Blissfield.
Boys JV Basketball Fights Off Morenci Saturday Afternoon
2.0 years ago | Greg Dutton
Win: 60 - 51
The boys JV basketball team found itself in a tussle Saturday afternoon in Morenci. Morenci had a lot of energy and was playing aggressive, just like you would expect for team playing in front of their home crowd on homecoming night. However, the Redwolves would find a way to come away with a 60-51 non-league win. The win pushes the Redwolves record to 8-2 overall while remaining 4-2 in the LCAA.  The first half saw several lead changes before the Bulldogs finished the first half off on a big run to turn a five point deficit early in the 2nd quarter into a five point halftime lead. Down 26-21 to begin the 3rd quarter, the Redwolves would begin slowly chipping away at the lead. Clinton would outscore Morenci 21-14 in the 3rd quarter to take a two point lead with them into the fourth quarter. The Redwolves would do more of the same in the 4th quarter, outscoring Morenci by seven points again in the 4th quarter 18-11 to pull away.  Clinton was led by Calen Keith in the scoring column, finishing with 19 points to lead the way. Eli Turner put in 15 points while Devon Trent added 13 points to also reach double digits. Chase Gillman would chip in with 6 points, Quinn Walden 5 points, and Teagan Zbikowski 2 points to round out the scoring for Clinton.  The Redwolves will be at home for two games next week, first with a LCAA matchup against Hillsdale on Tuesday.

2.0 years ago | Greg Dutton
Win: 46 - 26
The boys JV basketball team traveled to Ida Thursday evening and came away with an impressive 46-26 victory. The win improves the Redwolves JV record to 7-2 overall and 4-2 in the LCAA. This was the second straight game the Redwolves have held an opponent under 30 points for the game. While the offense didn't get totally in sync until the second half, the defense was able to hold the Bluestreaks to just 11 points in the first half, as the Redwolves went in the locker room with 19-11 advantage. With offense warming up, the defense continued to hold serve in the third quarter, holding Ida to just 6 more points in the quarter. While Ida would make a surge to start the fourth quarter, it was short lived as the Redwolves put the game away to win by the final margin.  Eli Turner led the way with 17 points on the evening. Quinn Walden added 8 points with Calen Keith 7 points, Chase Gillman 6 points, Devon Trent 3 points, Teagan Zbikowski 3 points, and Angel Rubio 2 points rounding out the scoring for the Redwolves.  The JV team will head to Morenci Saturday for a 4PM game with the Bulldogs as part of a Saturday quadruple header with the Girsl JV and Varsity, and the Boys Varsity.

Both teams made 15 two point field goals, while the Redwolves won the free throw battle making 10 free throws to Onsted's 9.  Calen Keith led the way with 21 points on the evening despite battling foul trouble and fouling out of the game with six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. 2.0 years ago | Greg Dutton
Win: 51 - 44
The boys JV basketball team got back to to game action on Thursday evening in their first game returning back from winter break. They defeated Hudson 51-44 at home in LCAA action to improve to 5-1 on the season overall and 2-1 in LCAA play.  Quinn Walden came out of the gates with a stellar individual first half performance for the Redwolves scoring 16 of the team's 22 points in the half to lead the team to a one point lead heading into the locker room. Walden's play in the first half garnered him much attention from the visiting Tigers in the second half, which opened up opportunities for the rest of the Redwolves to find their scoring niche. Chase Gillman had the big third quarter with 8 points. Calen Keith added 9 points in the second half, and Eli Turner added 8 more in the half as the two were able to team up on a couple nice plays late in the game when the Redwolves were able to pull away in the fourth quarter.  For the game, Quinn Walden finished with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals. JV Boys Win Thriller Over B-D to Claim Holiday Hoops Tournament Championship
2.0 years ago | Greg Dutton
Win: 54 - 53
The boys JV basketball team traveled to Britton-Deerfield on Wednesday evening to face the Patriots in the championship game of the Holiday Hoops Tournament. The first three games of the tournament didn't provide much drama, as all three games were 25 points or more differential. The lack of drama in the first three games was made up for in the championship game as both the Redwolves and Patriots would trade leads down the stretch, before Clinton would hang on for a wild 54-53 win. Clinton came out in the first quarter to take a 24-11 lead, and it looked like the championship game would be similar to the first three games. However, Clinton would cool off considerably, and would be unable to keep their hot shooting performance in the first quarter in which they made four three pointers, much due to the B-D defensive scheme. B-D started chipping away at the lead in the second quarter, and cut the score down to a 38-30 halftime deficit. A gritty 11-6 B-D advantage in the third quarter would set up the dramatics in the fourth. After several lead changes, Calen Keith's basket with 15 seconds remaining would put the Redwolves up for good. B-D had one more chance, but a Chase Gillman steal would seal the win and the championship for Clinton. The Clinton JV team is now 4-1 on the season and have a remarkable 25-5 record in their last 30 games dating back to the 2020-21 season.  Eli Turner led the Redwolves in the championship game with 18 points. Calen Keith added 15 points on the night, including 8 points in final quarter. Chase Gillman would also reach double figures on the evening with 11 points, all in the first half. Devon Trent, Brodie Stipe, Quinn Walden, and Teagan Zbikowski would all reach the scoring column with 5 points, 2 points, 2 points, and 1 point respectively.  The Redwolves will be off for the Holdiays and return to game action when they face Hudson at home on Thursday, January 5th.

2.0 years ago | Greg Dutton
Win: 66 - 34
The Boys JV basketball tournament came away with a 66-34 win over Sand Creek on Monday evening. The game was held at Britton-Deerfield, and was part of the JV Holiday Tournament. The win advances the Redwolves to Wednesday night's tournament final, where they will face Britton-Deerfield at 7PM in the Patriots gym.  The game against Sand Creek was fairly even through two quarters as the Redwolves would lead 27-20 at the half. A huge third quarter from the Redwolves blew the game open, as Clinton would outscore the Aggies 23-3 coming out of the half. Calen Keith and Chase Gillman were the two to lead the spark, as both picked up the performance on the defensive end with deflections and steals, and found themselves scoring easy baskets on the offensive end. Keith ended up with 13 points in the quarter, while Gillman added 8. For the game, Keith finished with 20 points to pace Clinton, and Gillman also reached double figures with 13 points on the night. Brodie Stipe finished with 9 points, Eli Turner 6 points, Quinn Walden 5 points, Ian Williams 4 points, Teagan Zbikowski 3 points, and Devon Trent, Jayden German, and Jaren Settles all finished with two points.
Boys JV Responds With Win at Blissfield
2.0 years ago | Greg Dutton
Win: 58 - 47
After a disappointing performance this past Tuesday vs Columbia Central, the boy JV basketball team was looking to get things going in the right direction on Friday night, and that they did. The team went on the road to come away with a 58-47 road LCAA victory at Blissfield. Although Clinton was in control of the game for most of the night, it was tightly contested throughout, as each time it seemed as if Clinton was going to pull away, Blissfield would close the gap. Blissfield was able to keep the game close from the free throw line as they attempted 25 free throws, making 12, to Clinton's 7 made free throws on 12 attempts.  Devon Trent's 17 points, which included five made three pointers, paced the Redwolves scoring tonight. Quinn Walden came off the bench to add 13 points, including a 6 for 8 performance from the free throw line. The player of the game however, was Jayden German. German came off the bench to provide much needed minutes as there were multiple players battling foul trouble in this game. He was great on the defensive end, and provided some timely rebounding.  Chase Gillman added 9 points, Calen Keith 7 points, Eli Turner 6 points, Teagan Zbikowski 4 points, and Jayden German 2 points, would round out the Redwolves scoring on the night.

Both teams couldn't get anything going on the offensive end as Columbia took a 14-11 lead to the locker room at halftime. Columbia was able to keep the defense going in the second half while beginning to put the ball in the hoop and slowly kept pulling away from the Redwolves.  Eli Turner finished the night with 11 points. Calen Keith, Chase Gillman, Devon Trent, Quinn Walden, and Teagan Zbikowski also reached the scoring column for Clinton.  The JV team will try to get back on track on Friday when they head to Blissfield for their first road game of the season.
