Varsity Wrestling Opens LCAA Action

Wrestling traveled to Columbia Central Wednesday, December 21st to open LCAA action. Clinton competed against Columbia Central in the first match, with Clinton coming away with a 69-12. The match started at 157 pounds with senior Ethan Younts who picked up a pin in the first period pin. Bryce Randolph followed with another first period pin at 165 pounds. Freshman Landon Lakatos collected a forfeit at 190 pounds. Wyatt Hicks, Hamza Rafferty, Braylon Long, Connor Busz, Maurice Ames, and Clifford Jones all collected wins. Connor Younts picks up a first period pin at 126 pounds, while Dylan Badge collected a pin in the third period at 132 pounds. Zak Shadley collected a 5-0 decision at 138 pounds to finish the scoring for Clinton. The second match Clinton wrestled Hudson and lost 19-45. Picking up wins on the night was Bryce Randolph with a 7-0 at 165 pounds to start the match. Hamza Rafferty hit a blast double and collected a pin at heavyweight. Connor Busz collected a 7-2 win at 120 pounds after collecting 3 takedowns. Connor Younts grabbed a major decision at 126 pounds to win 13-5 with three takedowns and two sets of nearfall points. Maurice Ames earned a 7-1 win at 144 with two takedowns and a set of nearfall points to round out the scoring for Clinton. The teams overall record is 7-2 on the year. The Redwolves travel to Salem High School for a varsity individual tournament on December, 29th. Our girls varsity team will be traveling to Montague for an individual tournament on December, 29th.
