Varsity Wrestling Finishes Runner Up at Westland John Glenn Tournament - Ethan Younts Earns His 100th Win

The varsity wrestling team traveled to Westland John Glenn for a team tournament on Saturday, Dec. 10th and finished 2nd.  In the opening match of the day Clinton defeated Rochester High School 66-18.  Big wins in the dual came from Nate Arntz, Braylon Long, Connor Younts, Dylan Badge, Maurice Ames, Clifford Jones, Ethan Younts, Bryce Randolph, and Hamza Rafferty who all recorded pins during the dual.  In round two Clinton defeated Southgate Anderson 57-18.  Senior Zak Shadley opened the match at 138 pounds and earned a 3-2 win to start the scoring for Clinton.  Other big wins came from Maurice Ames, Hamza Rafferty, Connor Younts, Dylan Badge, Connor Busz, Braylon Long, and Nate Arntz who all recorded pins for the Redwolves.  Other significant wins came from Bryce Randolph with a 3-2 win and Clifford Jones with a 7-1 win.  In the final dual of pool matches Clinton defeated host Westland John Glenn 48-21.  Maurice Ames started the dual off with a big 5-3 win at 144 pounds.  Clifford Jones followed that up with a tough 6-3 win.  Ethan Younts went into overtime at 0-0, but not only got the takedown but almost a pin in overtime to win 5-0.  The momentum seemed to continue for the Redwolves as Bryce Randolph came from behind to earned a pin in the third period.  Wyatt Hicks then picked up a pin for the Redwolves.  Hamza Rafferty earned a 7-0 win at Heavyweight.  Clinton got on a roll as Braylon Long, Connor Busz, Connor Younts, and Dylan Badge all recorded pins and open the match up.  

In the first cross over match Clinton defeated Waterford Kettering 60-18.  Ethan Younts picked up a technical Fall 15-0 at 157 pounds and Bryce Randolph earned a 5-4 win at 165 pounds.  Hamza Rafferty, Braylon Long, Connor Busz, Connor Younts, and Zak Shadley all picked up pins for the Redwolves.  Maurice Ames closed the dual with a 16-8 major decision and put Clinton in the championship match.  

In the championship match Clinton lost to division 1 number 4 ranked Macomb Dakota High School.  Senior Ethan Younts opened the match at 157 pounds and earned a 14-6 major decision for his 100th career win.  Congratulations Ethan on this great career accomplishment.  At 165 pounds freshman Bryce Randolph earned a pin for the Redwolves.  Connor Busz picked up a 4-2 win over Oziah Wilson in overtime to secure the win at 120 pounds.  Connor Younts lost a great match to Caleb Weiand 3-4 at 126 pounds.  Dylan Badge battled and lost a tough 2-5 decision at 132 pounds.  Maurice Ames earned a pin and finished the scoring for the Redwolves at 144 pounds.  They finished as runner up against schools much larger and it didn't matter, as the team battled and competed in every match.  Clinton is now 6-1 on the year and will be back in action Wednesday, Dec. 21st at 5:30 at Columbia Central as they open league action.
