On Wednesday, Dec. 7th the varsity wrestling team had their season homer and home debut.  Clinton defeated Michigan Center in the opening match 66-15.  The match started at 144 pounds after the officials random draw.  Junior Maurice Ames started the night off with a pin in 38 seconds after an opening takedown and two sets of nearfall points.  Freshman Clifford Jones started his high school career off with pin at 150 pounds after scoring three takedowns and two sets of nearfall back points.  Senior Ethan Younts stepped in at 157 pounds for a first period pin after the opening takedown and nearfall points.  Another Freshman Bryce Randolph competed at 165 pounds and earned a takedown and two sets of nearfall points before picking up the pin.  Landon Lakatos wrestled at 190 pounds as a freshman and competed well in a hard fought battle that he came up short 9-11.  Sophomore Hamza Rafferty picked up the pin at heavyweight with a takedown and nearfall points.  Junior Nate Arntz picked up a win by forfeit at 106 and sophomore Braylon Long grabbed a second period pin after the initial takedown he scored three sets of nearfall points before the pin at 113 pounds.  Senior Connor Busz wrestled at 120 pounds and pinned Brennan Pickett in the first period.  Junior Connor Younts followed at 126 pounds and pinned Ashton Bristow in the second period after earning five sets of nearfall points.  Junior Dylan Badge picked up the first period pin at 132 pounds.  Senior Zak Shadley finished the match at 138 pounds with a first period pin to finish the match.  In the only girls varsity match of the night Raven Aldridge pinned Abby Holbrook of Michigan Center in the second period after scoring three takedowns and a set of nearfall points.  AJ Johnson won his JV match against Degen Ruebuck with a pin in the second period.  Luther Fultz lost his JV match at heavyweight by a score of 3-5.

In the second match of the night Cliff Jones and Carson Ehnis started the night off by accepting forfeits at 150 & 157 against Napoleon.  Ethan Younts wrestled at 165 pounds and earned a 42 second 1st period pin.  At 175 pounds Bryce Randolph picked up the pin in 1:25 of the first period.  Landon Lakatos again battled at 190 pounds for the Redwolves but fell short in the third period.  Hamza Rafferty dropped his match at heavyweight, before Nate Arntz won by forfeit at 106.  Braylon Long won by forfeit at 113 as well.  Connor Busz opened up a close first period match to earn and escape and takedown in the second period before a set of nearfall points before the pin at 120 pounds.  Connor Younts picked up another pin on the night at 126 pounds.  Dylan Badge gabbed the opening takedown at 132 pounds before a set of nearfall points and the pin.  Zak Shadley earned a pin in 31 seconds at 138 pounds, while Maurice Ames finished the dual at 144 pounds with a pin after earning two takedowns and some nearfall points.  In JV matches Brenden Benschoter won his match 6-4 in overtime after he picked up the takedown in sudden victory.  Luther Fultz dropped his second JV match of the night at heavyweight.   Tanner Bolton picked up his second win of the night at 132 pounds with a pin in 29 seconds.  More JV matches were held against Monroe as Brenden Benschoter grabbed another win with a second period pin. Tanner Bolton earned a 14-6 major decision win at 132 pounds.  The final match of the night was Aiden Weaver at 138 pounds were he battled the entire match but fell short.  The girls varsity team travels to Monroe St. Mary's Catholic Central on Friday, Dec. 9th for a girls varsity tournament that starts at 6pm and the boys travel to Westland John Glenn for a varsity team tournament and a JV individual tournament that both start at 9am.
