On Wednesday, Feb. 9th the wrestling traveled to Adrian Madison for the MHSAA Team District Championships. In the semi finals Clinton defeated Onsted 78-3.  Picking up pins were Zak Shadley at 125, Joey Preston at 145, Kent McCombs at 160, Jake Felts at 171, and Brandon Felts at Heavyweight.  Picking up wins were Nate Arntz at 103, Braylon Long at 112, Connor Younts at 119, Chase Packard at 130, Coy Perry at 135, Maurice Ames at 140, George Ames at 152, and Wyatt Hicks at 215.  In the District Championship Clinton faced Adrian Madison after they knocked off Blissfield in the other semi final.  Clinton defeated Adrian Madison 72-6.  Braylon Long started the dual off at 112 pounds and picked up a quick takedown and got the pin in 1:22 over Lucas Dopp.  Connor Younts stepping in at 119 and earned a 17-1 technical fall over Landon Mohr by racking up several take down and four different sets of near fall points.  Clinton 11 Madison 0.  Zak Shadley went into over double overtime to earn a 6-3 victory over Lucas Leonard.  Zak earned an escape and a takedown in double overtime to win the match.  Chase Packard defeated Braxton Gates with a first period pin in 1:53.  Clinton 20 Madison 0.  Coy Perry pinned Jalon Borders in 1:25 at 135 pounds and Maurice Ames pinned Jaden Patterson in 48 seconds at 140 pounds.Clinton 32 Madison 0.  Ethan Younts earned a pin in 59 seconds at 145 pounds over Angel Cabrera and George Ames grabbed a pin in the second period over Trayto Kolle at 152 pounds.  Clinton 44 Madison 0.  Gage Blackburn picked up a forfeit win at 160 pounds, and Kent McCombs pinned Ben Goodlock in 1:40 after collecting a takedown and four sets of near fall points before the pin at 171 pounds.  Clinton 56 Madison 0.  Nate Smith grabbed a major decision win at 189 pounds 13-4 against Seth Mutter.  Wyatt Hicks pinned Logan Russell in the second period at 215 pounds and Brandon Felts picked up a win by forfeit at heavyweight.  The final match of the night was Nate Arntz at 103 and he dropped his match to Malaki Mosher.  Final score was Clinton 72 Adrian Madison 6.  This is the 7th MHSAA Team District Title in a row and 8th in the last 9 years.  Clinton will be competing at Williamston High School on Wednesday, Feb. 16th starting at 5pm.  Clinton will wrestle Hillsdale in the semi final, then the winner of Williamston and Napoleon for the Regional Championship.  Please wish our wrestlers luck on their quest to make it back to the MHSAA Team State Championships at Kalamazoo K Wings Stadium on Friday & Saturday Feb. 25/26.
