Several of our girls traveled to Ovid Elsie on Friday, Jan. 28th for an individual tournament.  Opening the tournament was Michelle Arntz at 110 pounds as she competed against A. Byars of Dewitt and dropped a tight match.  Michelle then had a tremendous battle but came up short 4-2 over Anna Pontzious of Utica.  In her last match of the day Michelle grabbed a pin over S. Juhas of Ovid Elsie.  Raven Aldridge wrestled at 135 pounds and picked up a pin after collecting two takedowns over K. Winget of East Jackson. In Raven's second match she picked up a another pin over A Florey.  Raven then knocked off the #2 girl in the state with an 8-4 win over D. Swihart of Hanover Horton.  Raven lost her final match 4-2 over J. Brown of Bad Axe ina closely contested match.  Jayden Rosza lost to C Ferguson at 155 pounds to open her tournament.  In the second round Jayden lost to B. Green of Howell who is the number 2 girl in the state.  Jayden lost her final match 8-7 and wrestled a great match to end her day.  This was the girls last individual tournament before the girls regional that is hosted by the MHSAA on Sunday, Feb. 19th.  The top eight at each regional will qualify for the state championships at Ford Field.
