Wrestling Opens LCAA Matches by going 2-0 at Home

On Wednesday, Jan. 5th Clinton hosted an LCAA Quad with Blissfield, Onsted, and Hillsdale.  The night also showcased our youth Club and Middle School Wrestlers, who were out in force.  The Seniors were also recognized for senior night with their parents.  Seniors Chase Packard, Taylor Randolph, George Ames, Kent McCombs, and Logan Badge were honored along with their parents.  Thank you seniors for everything you have given to the program over the years to help build it and by being leaders along the way.  

Clinton started the night off competing against Blissfield and earned a 75-6 win over the Royals.  The match started off at heavyweight after the random weight class draw by the officials.  Hamza Rafferty lost tough match against Julius Brown.  Braylon Long picked up a forfeit at 103, while Connor Younts picked up a quick pin at 112 in just 26 seconds.  Connor Busz picked up a second period pin in 2:49 after picking up two takedowns and three sets of near fall points against Conner Deaton.  Zak Shadley wrestled at 125 pounds and picked up a pin in the third period after putting three takedowns on the board.  Chase Packard earned a technical fall 20-5 over Tanner Sieser at 130 pounds.  Maurice Ames picked up a quick first period pin at 135 pounds, and Coy Perry earned a major decision 12-2 at 140 pounds.  Ethan Younts grabbed a first period pin at 145 pounds in just 34 seconds.  Gage Blackburn stepped into the line up tonight at 152 pounds and earned a first period pin.  Joey Preston continued with a pin at 160 pounds.  Jake Felts grabbed the quickest pin of the night in just 13 seconds at 171 pounds.  Wyatt Hicks earned a pin in the second period at 189 pounds.  Logan Badge picked up three takedowns before earning the fall at 215 against Collin Eggleston.  Before the match Leanne Mercier picked up a win in a girls wrestling match as she defeated Taylor House 5-0.  Jayden Rosza then wrestled house after the dual and lost in the second period.  Bryce Rosacrans picked up an extra win at 215 pounds with a first period pin.

 In the second match of the night for the Redwolves, they competed against the Wildcats of Onsted.  Clinton Defeated Onsted 78-6 to finish 2-0 on the night.  Pins were earned by Chase Packard, Gage Blackburn, Joey Preston, Logan Badge, and Wyatt Hicks.  Others picking up wins on the night were:  Braylon Long, Connor Younts, Connor Busz, Zak Shadley, Maurice Ames, Coy Perry, Ethan Younts, and Jake Felts.  Clinton's record is now 19-0 on the year.  Clinton will now host the 46th Annual Dave Elliott Memorial Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 8th starting at 9am.  The Dave Elliott is an individual 16 person bracket tournament and should make for a great day of wrestling.
