Clinton Wrestling Wins Lawton Duals to Improve to 17-0

Clinton went 5-0 at the Lawton Duals to earn the Championship and knock off several ranked teams along the way.  In an scheduling rotation for the tournament, Clinton was forced to wrestling Bronson again and this time knocked off the #3 team in division 4 65-6.  Picking up pins during the match were Joey Preston at 152, Wyatt Hicks at 189, Logan Badge at 215, Hamza Rafferty at Hwt. Braylon Long at 103, Connor Busz at 119, Maurice Ames at 135, and Ethan Younts at 145 pounds.  George Ames won a close 8-6 decision at 160 pounds.  Connor Younts won by technical fall 15-0 at 112 pounds.  Zak Shadley won a close 1-0 decision at 125 pounds.  Chase Packard won by decision 12-5 at 130 pounds, and Coy Perry won a 10-4 decision at 140 pounds.  In Round two Clinton Defeated State Ranked Lawton and 2021 Division 7 Football State Champions 51-15.  Joey Preston opened the dual at 160 pounds with an 8-6 win, collecting three takedowns on his way to the win.  Jake Felts stepped in at 171 and earned a first period fall in 1:26.  Wyatt Hicks grabbed a quick 24 second pin at 189 pounds.  Logan Badge earned a pin in just 40 seconds at 215 pounds.  At heavyweight Hamza Rafferty lost by pin.  Braylon Long then earned a close 4-2 win over his state ranked opponent, Austin Garcia.  Connor Younts picked up a 7-2 win over his state ranked opponent Caleb Mallory.  Connor Busz picked up a 30 second pin at 119 pounds.  At 125 pounds Chase Packard dropped a 3-4 match to state ranked Dustin Mallory.  Zak Shadley earned a 5-0 win at 130 pounds.  Maurice Ames earned a first period fall in 1:43 at 135 pounds.  Coy Perry won 8-2 at 140 pounds after picking up three takedowns.  At 145 pounds Ethan Younts picked up a first period pin in 1:26.  Clinton was forced to forfeit at 152 to finish the dual and leaving the final score Clinton 51 Lawton 15.  

Clinton ran through Schoolcraft 70-12 to earn their third dual victory of the day.  Jake Felts started the dual for the Redwolves at 171 pounds a dropped his match.  Logan Badge picked up a forfeit win at 189 and Wyatt Hicks earned a pin in the second period at 215 pounds.  Hamza Rafferty picked up a 19 second pin at heavyweight.  Braylon Long, Connor Busz, and Zak Shadley all picked up wins by forfeit.  Connor Younts picked up a 16-0 technical fall at 112 pounds.  Chase Packard picked up a technical fall of his own at 130 pounds 19-4.  Maurice Ames picked up a fall at 135 pounds, while Coy Perry earned the win at 140 pounds by injury default after being up 4-0 when the match was stopped due to injury.  Ethan Younts earned a first period fall at 145 and Joey Preston earned the third technical fall of the dual with a 17-1 win after racking up three takedowns and three sets of near fall points. 

Clinton then line up against state ranked Union City in a great dual.  Clinton started by sending out Logan Badge at 189 pounds, but Union City forfeited to him to give Clinton a 6-0 lead.  Wyatt Hicks stepped in at 215 pounds and dropped a tough match 2-6 as he battled for all six minutes.  Hamza Rafferty then gave up a pin at heavyweight and gave Union City their first lead of the day 9-6.  Braylon Long was wrestling a great match against a highly ranked opponent Logan Mears and was up 4-1 before giving up a pin in the second period.  Union City 15 Clinton 6.  Connor Younts got things rolling for the Redwolves with a pin at 112 pounds to close the gap.  Connor Busz then stepped in at 119 and Union City purposely forfeited to him to give the lead back to Clinton 18-15 in order to get the match up they wanted.  But Chase Packard stepped up at 125 pounds with a 5-3 win over his state ranked opponent to keep the Redwolves momentum going.  Zak Shadley then put on a a scoring clinic as he opened up to pick up a 12-4 major decision.  Maurice Ames continued to rack up points before earning the pin in the third period.  Coy Perry then took on the number one wrestler at 140 pounds in division four and earned a hard fought 3-2 win.  This win brought the crowd to its feet as this was a great match.  Ethan Younts jumped on that momentum and earned a 7-2 win at 145 pounds.  Joey Preston picked up a pin at 152 pounds before Jake Felts picked up a pin of his own at 171 pounds in the first period.  The final score Clinton 49 Union City 21.  

In the final round Clinton defeated White Pigeon 66-12 to finish 5-0 on the day as a team.  Earning pins for the Redwolves were Braylon Long at 103, Maurice Ames at 135, Coy Perry at 140, and Ethan Younts at 145.  Joey Preston won a 10-3 decision at 152 pounds.  Hamza Rafferty competed well earning a 3-1 overtime win at heavyweight.  Picking up wins were Logan Badge, Wyatt Hicks, Connor Younts, Connor Busz, Zak Shadley, and Chase Packard.  

At the conclusion of the day the team battled together and continued to improve as the day progressed and answered the challenges that were put before them.  This win puts the team record at 17-0 on the season as the Redwolves are currently ranked 2nd in the state in division three.  Clinton will be at home twice this week, hosting an LCAA Quad match on Wednesday starting at 5:30pm and hosting the 46th annual Dave Elliott Memorial Tournament on Saturday starting at 9am.
