The wrestling team opened up their season at home on Wednesday, Dec. 8th with two victories.   First Clinton posted a shut out over Michigan Center 81-0, then Clinton defeated Napoleon 46-30 to finish the night.

Starting the night out was 3 time all state wrestler George Ames at 160 pounds against Michigan Center and he collected a fall in 1:31 to put Clinton up 6-0.  Freshman Jake Felts stepped into his first varsity competition at 171 pounds and picked up a pin over Chase Short in just 26 seconds.  That is a heck of debut by the freshman.  Logan Badge is entering his senior year after winning 3 State Championships in each of his previous high school season and collected a pin at 189 pounds to put the Redwolves up 18-0 after three matches.  A pair of sophomores got pins at 215 and Hwt. for the Redwolves.  Wyatt Hicks at 189 and Bryce Rosacrans both battles to up the score to 30-0.  Another sophomore Nate Arntz earned the pin at 103 pounds, while Freshman Braylon Long picked up the fall at 112 pounds. Against Napoleon there were some great battles as our team competed well against a tough team.  Jake Felts started off at 171 but lost a tough match.  Logan Badge evened the score up at 6-6 after he picked up a pin at 189 pounds.  Wyatt Hicks was winning his match and was caught in a bad position and lost at 215 pounds.  Freshman Hamza Rafferty stepped in at heavyweight for his first varsity match but lost in the first period.  Freshman Braylon Long started a 7 match winning streak for the Redwolves that Napoleon could not recover from.  Long earn a technical fall 16-0 and got the bench going as he scored at the very end of the third period to secure the extra bonus point for his team.  Next was returning state champ Connor Younts at 112 and he earn a technical fall of his own with a 15-0 win.  This put the team score at 16-18 with Napoleon still in the lead.  Junior Connor Busz came up big against a tough kid and earned a 4-0 victory to put his team up 19-18.  Chase Packard took that momentum and earn a pin at 125 pounds.  Zak Shadley collected a forfiet at 130 pounds and returning state champ Coy Perry collected a first period pin to make the score 37-18 Clinton.  Maurice Ames stepped up at 140 pounds and grabbed a first period fall of his own.  Ethan Younts was pinned late in the third period at 145 pounds after being up most of the match. Senior George Ames picked up a hard fought 4-2 win at 152 pounds and Gage Blackburn lost by pin in the first period.  The final score was Clinton 46 Napoleon 30.
