Clinton Wrestling Knocks off D4 #2 Hudson in LCAA action

The wrestling team had a big matchup in league action traveling to Columbia Central for Duals with Blissfield and the D4 #2 ranked Hudson Tigers. The top ranked wrestling team in D4 came through with wins over Blissfield 84-0 and a 41-19 win over Hudson. The Hudson dual kicked off the night and the meet started at 189. Logan Badge got the dual off to a good start with a pin in just 17 seconds. Hudson answered with a pin at 215 before giving a forfeit win to Brandon Felts at heavyweight to make the score 12-6 Clinton as the meet flipped to the lightweights. 103 went to Hudson by a 9-1 decision to close th gap to 12-10. 112 started rocky with Coy Perry facing a 5-0 deficit at the end of the first period. He came all the way back to tie it up late in the match 6-6 before taking his opponent down and to his back for the 11-6 sudden victory win. At 119 pounds Connor Busz currently ranked #3 at 112 wnet up against the #2 ranked 119 pounder in the state and after giving up the first takedown to trail 2-0, he closed out the match with 5 unanswered points to secure the 5-2 win. 125 Nik Shadley won 9-3 to push the Redskin lead to 21-10. 130 and 135 went Hudson's way with a 3-0 win and a pin and that made the score 21-19 but that would be it for them as Clinton's upclass all-staters would close out the meet. First the juniors, #1 Ranked George Ames got a 6-2 win at 140. Then #2 ranked Kent McCombs with a dominating first period technical fall 17-0. Then the seniors closed it out #3 Ranked AJ Baxter beat the returning state champ and #1 ranked Hudson wrestler 7-4 at 152. #2 Ranked Spencer Konz beat the #1 ranked Hudson tiger 4-3 at 160. #1 ranked Brayden Randolph closed it out with a pin in 50 seconds for the final margin of 41-19. The wins put the record at 15-1 for the season and 6-1 in the LCAA and a no worse than 2nd in the league finish with a chance at a share of the league still possible. Clinton is back in action Friday the 5th at the D1 6th ranked Bedford mules and duals also against Adrian and Pickney.
