Makenzie German, Taylor Randolph, and Jaecy Jones all competed on Sunday at the girls state championships. All 3 girls represented Clinton well and placed to secure All-State status in wrestling for Clinton High School. Makenzie advanced tot he 7th place match against Grace Beshears of Birmingham Seaholm and trailed most of the match before getting an escape and take down in the 3rd period to win the match 8-4 and take 7th. Taylor Randolph battled her way through the bracket and secured her spot in the 5th place match by pinning Natalie Lutz from Jackson Northwest in 1:44. She unfortunately dropped her final match but still placed 6th in the state of Michigan. Jaecy Jones lost in the semi-finals to the eventual champion by major decision (the only girl to last the entire 6 minutes against her) but rebounded with a convincing win over Sofia Licon from Novi high school by technical fall 15-0 to take 3rd. All 3 girls will be back and we are excited to see how they do in this event in the future.
