East Jackson Dome Classic

Game Date
May 13, 2022

Last week Clinton competed on Wednesday at Hillsdale to face both Hillsdale and Hudson, and then at the East Jackson Dome Classic on Friday. It was a beautiful week for competition as the weather turned warmer and a lot of athletes started to see their performances improve.

On Wednesday, the Clinton girls beat both of their opponents to finish out the regular season with the record of 6-1, while the boys beat Hudson but fell to Hillsdale to finish with a record of 5-2. We compete in the LCAA league championship meet at Onsted on Wednesday, May 24th.

The girls track team displayed their growing depth on Friday afternoon by placing in the top six of all four relays. The Redwolves saved their best performance for last, taking third place in the 4x400 with Samantha Coots, Ruby Faulkner, Ruby Sierer, and Zoey Sierer in a season best time of 4:34. The 4x800 relay team of Coots, Z. Sierer, Sarah King, and Allison Bowles took fifth place with a time of 11:06. The sprint relays both took sixth place and ran season best times. The 4x100 team of Griffin Faulkner, Brynn Frederick, Mykell Brodie, and Aubrey Lauer ran 53.84, moving them to less than a second away from the automatic state qualifying time of 53.0. The 4x200 relay included three of the same legs from the 4x100, with the one change being Zoey Sierer moving in for Mykell Brodie. They also took sixth in a time of 1:52.81. The automatic state qualifying time in the 4x200 is 1:51.8.

Individually, there were also a few standout performances. Griffin Faulkner claimed third in the pole vault while Aubrey Lauer and Zoey Sierer finished 4-5 in the long jump. On the track, Brynn Frederick raced to a fourth place finish in the 200 meter dash.

The boys had some standout performances on Friday to take 5th out of 16 teams in the East Jackson Dome Classic. Grant Stockford continued his dominance in the high jump by tying his PR at 6'2" and has cleared the 6'0" state qualifying height in the high jump a few times. Mason Brodie won the shotput and placed 3rd in discus and has met the state qualifying in both the shotput and the discus and threw PRs with 46' 0.5" in the shotput and 133'9" in discus. The 4x100 sprint crew of Zak Shadley, Max Stitt, Carter Keith and Grant Stockford took 6th and was 0.1s off of their PR from last year and is within one second of meeting the state qualifying time. Gabe Nelson came in second in the 3200m at 10:54. Gabe qualified for State last year in the 3200m and is knocking on the door of the qualifying time of 10:10 again this year.
