Redskins Perform at the Dome Classic

The Varsity Track & Field program traveled to East Jackson High School for the annual Dome Classic Invitational and walked away with a lot of medals, personal records, and highlights on what proved to be a very rainy Friday afternoon. Team results featured the women placing 7th with 45.5 points competing with a very talented Onsted, Manchester, and Addison squads who finished first through third in that order. The men finished second in the meet earning themselves their first trophy of the year with 71 points falling only to #1 ranked Addison.

Highlighting the performances for the men in the field were Conner Brodie placing third in men’s shot put with a toss of 45’3”, Steven Posa was third in the discus with a throw of 126’4” and Clay Langer with a jump of 19’ 9.75” in long jump. On the track the men had quite the day scoring in many areas from the sprints to distance. Placing for the men were: Noah Deshano second in the 100m with a PR of 11.84, Trevor Underwood in the 200m taking second with a time of 24.4, freshman Gabe Nelson set a PR in the 3200m with a time of 11:10 and placed second, Ryan Skiff set a PR in the 110HH taking 5th with a time of 18.5, the 4x100 relay team of Deshano, Langer, Wylie, and McCombs took 3rd with a time of 47.42, the 4x200 team of Deshano, Langer, Wylie, and Underwood walked away with a meet championship clocking in a time of 1:35, our 4x400 relay team of Renaldi, Meeks, Skiff, and Minard placed 6th with a time of 4:00, and finally the 4x800 team of Urbanczyk, DeVitto, Doty, and Minard took 6th with a time of 9:47.

Earning medals for the women were Lindsey Burton in the women’s long jump with a leap of 14’ 8” placing 5th, Lena Korte in the 400m placed 5th with a time of 1:10, Alyssa King just missed a medal in the 1600m run but did set a personal record with a time of 6:19, King set another PR in the 3200m run placing 4th with a time of 13:34, in the 100 hurdles Karissa Westlake cruised her way into 4th with a personal record at 18.8 and also earned a medal in the 300LH with a time of 57.4 (another PR) placing her 6th! Continuing the success of the individual events, the relays had a lot of success in the rain placing in many events: the 4x100 team of Struck, Burton, Underwood, and Studnicka sprinted into 3rd with a time of 55.3, our 4x200 relay of Struck, Burton, Underwood, and Studnicka took 4th with a time of 2:00, the 4x400 team of - you guessed it - Struck, Burton, Underwood, and Studnicka also took 4th with a time of 4:45, and our 4x800 relay of Bouse, Elwart, Fletcher, and King ran a good time of 11:56 but just missed out on earning a medal.

The track teams will travel to Whitmore Lake High School to continue league play on 4/23 where we will compete against the Trojans and the Aggies of Sand Creek.
