The Clinton JV volleyball team had an impressive start at the JV County tournament held at Morenci High School on Saturday. The Redwolves cruised through Pool Play as they defeated Lenawee Christian, Britton Deerfield and the Onsted Wildcats. With a 6-0 record the Redwolves were seeded #1 in the Gold bracket. In the quarterfinal round Clinton then faced the #8 seeded team, the LCS Cougars. The Redwolves continued with their strong serving and great defense to capture the win over the Cougars 25-11 and 25-16. The Onsted Wildcats also advanced to the semi-final round by defeating Adrian Maples. Clinton had to remain focused as the Wildcats clawed their way through the match but it was Clinton’s uptempo  offense that dominated the match winning 25-22 and 25-23. The 2nd seeded team, the Tecumseh Indians won their Semifinal game over  Adrian Madison and were ready to compete against the Redwolves in the finals. As expected the match was very competitive. Clinton won the first set 25-19, then the Indians turned things around and won the second set 25-20 to force the third and final set. Clinton put the first kill on the scoreboard but Tecumseh caught fire in the middle of their line up and Clinton could not catch up to the Indians as they won 15-10. The Redwolves finished with a 5-1 record on the day and brought home the JV County Runner Up Trophy.

Clinton raised their overall record to 27-3-4.

Ashlynn Benschoter had 18 points with 5 aces, 49 digs, 3 kills, 3 assists and 33 serve receive passes.

Jackie Whiting had 93% serving accuracy, 14 points, 4 aces, 29 kills, 15 digs, 1 block, and 28 serve receive passes.

Finnley Faulkner had 20 kills and 6 blocks.

Cora Harsh had 4 points, 3 aces, 13 kills and 8 assists.

Zoey Utz had 4 kills, 5 digs, 2 assists.

Bella Bannon had 4 kills,1 block and 3 digs.
