Today the Clinton JV girls volleyball team traveled all the way to Warren to compete in the Big Fish showcase hosted by Mercy high school.  The day would start off first with pool play.  The girls would first face host Mercy. In our pool we would play three sets do to only have three teams in our pool.  Losing set one 19-25, the second set would be a nail biter and a very long set two, but the girls would rally back and have some great plays to win 33-31.  The winner would be determined by the third set, where they would end up losing 9-25.  Next, the girls would go on to play right away again against Bloomfield Hills.  All three sets were very close and would go back and forth between the two teams.  Set one was 27-29, set two we won 25-21 and set three would be a very close 25-27 loss for the girls.  Overall in pool play they were 2-4 for sets, 0-2 overall match record.  The girls would then go onto the silver bracket finals for the day where they would face Ann Arbor Skyline.  This match up would be another hard fought battle for the girls as they would lose set one 17-25, come back to win set two 25-17 and take it a set three and would fall short losing 11-15 in the final set of the day.  The girls never game on today even though they were tired and playing against class A and B schools.  The girls worked hard and worked together to have to really fight.  Coach Martin is very proud of the team and the heart they gave today at the tournament.

On the day  Lena Korte led with a team high 21 kills, 2 blocks, and 6 digs.  Libbi Fair had 13 kills, 18 digs, 5 points and 1 ace.  Mackenzie Brandvold had 5 kills, 4 blocks, 21 points and 5 aces.  Taylor Randolph had 12 digs, 6 points and 1 ace.  Ashlyn Schmidt led with a team high 34 digs, 14 points and 5 aces.  Hallie Kittle led the team with 44 assists, 30 points and 9 aces.  It was a great effort by the whole team today.

Next the girls will play on Tuesday September 18th when they host Sand Creek at home for another TCC matchup starting around 5:15 p.m.
