Girls Junior Varsity Volleyball vs. Multiple Opponents

Today the Clinton JV volleyball girls played host for their first tournament of the season.  The girls played great all day long and had some very close games, also some great come from behind wins as well on the day.  The girls played hard and did great for their first tournament of the season.  In pool play they would face Canton Prep winning 25-9 and 25-3.  The second match would come against Leslie where they would win 25-8 and win a close second game 27-25.  In the final match in pool play the girls would end up splitting with Michigan Center winning game one 25-20 and losing a close second game 22-25.  The girls went 5-1 in pool play and would come out being the number one seed for the tournament.  In the gold division the girls would first face a former LCAA team in Blissfield.  Game one would go to Blissfield 14-25, then the girls would come back on top winning game two 25-19, which then would take that match to a game three, where the girls would come out on top in a close third game 15-11.  In the finals of the Gold bracket Clinton would face Father Gabriel Richard also taking that match to three games.  Losing the first 17-25 the girls would fight back from being behind and win 25-15 taking it to a game three.  The team would end up losing 6-15.  Overall the girls played great today and looking forward to a great season.  With the loss on the day they would be 8-4 on the day taking Second Place in their own tournament.

 

            For the day the lady Redskins were led with Ashlyn Schmidt with 62 points and 13 aces, and she also picked up 22 digs.  Jaecy Jones racked up a team high 79 digs and also had 62 points and 10 aces.  Leading the way in kills was Libbi Fair with 17 kills, 35 digs, 28 pts and 3 aces.  Lena Korte also had 17 kills, 1 block, 5 digs, 7 points and 2 aces.  Lily Thompson rounded out the offense with 16 kills, 2 blocks, 4 digs, 42 points, 7 aces and 16 assists.  Hallie Kittle led with 28 assists on the day and added 37 points and 12 aces.

 

            Monday August 20th the girls will travel to Vandercook Lake for a tri-match with varsity with the game starting at 4 p.m.
