The Clinton Varsity Redwolves swept a Saturday doubleheader in dominant fashion, defeating Berrien Springs 15-0 and then outlasting Western 7-4 to improve their record and build momentum heading into next week.
In Game 1, Cora Harsh stole the spotlight, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs to power Clinton past Berrien Springs in a five-inning run-rule victory. Harsh delivered in every key moment—knocking in runs with a second-inning single, a third-inning double, and a two-RBI single in a nine-run fifth inning that broke the game wide open. She was part of a surging bottom third of the Redwolves' lineup that included Raven Aldridge and Lexi Tzortzinis. The trio combined for six hits, six runs, and nine RBIs.
Tzortzinis earned the win in the circle, striking out seven and walking none in a complete-game shutout. Clinton played error-free defense and turned a double play to back the dominant effort.
Game 2 saw Clinton in a tighter battle against a tough Western squad. After falling behind 3-1, the Redwolves stormed back in the third inning behind timely hits from Taryn Hernandez, Lola Szczesniak, and a momentum-shifting triple by Brenna Broman to take the lead for good. Ashlynn Benschoter tied the game earlier with a second-inning RBI single and was strong in the circle, striking out eight across four innings. Broman came in to close the door in relief.
Annabell Preston sparked the offense from the leadoff spot, going 3-for-4, while Hernandez added two RBIs in a balanced offensive effort that saw Clinton rack up 11 hits.
The Redwolves continue to impress both offensively and defensively. Clinton returns to action Tuesday against Hillsdale.
