Red-Hot Bats Power Clinton Varsity Redwolves to Dominant Sweep Over Blissfield

The Clinton Varsity Redwolves exploded offensively in Friday night’s doubleheader, cruising to back-to-back victories over Blissfield with a combined score of 32-3. A combination of timely hitting, long balls, and lockdown pitching helped Clinton improve their record and build momentum heading into a busy weekend slate.

Game One: Clutch Kruger Ignites 17-1 Rout

The opener was all about timely hitting—and none bigger than Calli Kruger’s third-inning grand slam to center field. Kruger finished the game with five RBIs on two hits, sparking a 10-run frame that put the game out of reach early.

Clinton wasted no time getting on the board, plating three runs in the first behind a two-RBI triple from Lola Szczesniak and an RBI double from Lydia Ormsby. The Redwolves added four more in the second thanks to a two-run double from Kylinn Long and a Blissfield error.

Then came the third-inning eruption: Kruger’s grand slam was followed by a two-run homer from Taryn Hernandez, and RBI hits from Annabell Preston and Kruger again. In total, Clinton tallied 11 hits, with Preston going a perfect 3-for-3 and Long adding two knocks.

Hernandez earned the win in the circle, allowing just one run on four hits across three innings while striking out four. Clinton’s defense was sharp behind her, committing zero errors and playing clean ball throughout.

Game Two: Redwolves Go Big Again in 15-2 Win

Clinton erupted for 12 runs in the third inning to break open what had been a 1-1 tie. Annabell Preston, Lola Szczesniak, and Brenna Broman each contributed key RBI hits, while Taryn Hernandez crushed a two-run double and later drove in another run on a groundout. Szczesniak added her second RBI hit of the inning, capping off another offensive explosion.

Hernandez finished 2-for-4 with four RBIs, while Preston, Szczesniak, and Long each tallied two hits. The Redwolves showcased patience at the plate once again, drawing seven walks and swiping five more bases. Preston led the charge on the basepaths with two stolen bags.

Broman picked up the win, going five strong innings, allowing just one earned run on six hits while striking out seven. Defensively, Clinton stayed flawless in the field for the second game in a row.

With the sweep, Clinton continues to build momentum and will hit the road for big games at the Brighton Tournament on Saturday.
