JV Boys Hoops Wins Homecoming Game

Game Date
Feb 2, 2024
Score
: 49
HUDSON AREA SCHOOLS: 46

Homecoming was kind to the boys JV basketball team Friday night as they earned a 49-46 win over the Hudson Tigers. The win improved the Redwolves record to 11-3 overall and 7-2 in the LCAA. This win also marked the JV basketball team's 50th win in their last 60 attempts over the last four seasons. "We are in the middle of an incredible run going with our JV team's success, and that is much to be proud of," Coach Dutton said. "It is a testament to the players and their buy in to the team, and the program. It has not always been perfect, but that is the case with JV basketball. The kids are learning and preparing to get ready for when it is their turn to perform at the varsity level."

Against Hudson, the Redwolves were able to get the offense going early, thanks to four three point baskets in the first quarter. Louie Della-Badia made two, while Ronan Stelzer and Dacari Garrison each added one. Dacari Garison would make another three in the second quarter and finish with seven points in the quarter to lead the Redwolves into the locker room with a 30-20 advantage. Clinton would continue to extend the lead after halftime thanks to Owen Barnhart's six points, and it would look like the Redwolves would cruise to the win. However, Hudson would make the final score look close as they didn't quit and won the quarter 18-7 thanks to three 3-point baskets in the final 90 seconds of the game.

Ronan Stelzer led the Redwolves with 15 points on the night, while Dacari Garrison added 13 and Owen Barnhart reache double digits as well with 11 points on the night. Louie Della-Badia chipped in with 8 points and Jacob Pizio added one basket finish with two points. Brandon Ruhl played big minutes off the bench, grabbing several key rebounds and playing great team defense. Angel Rubio and Broden Manchester also had great games to help the team earn the win.

Coach Dutton says, "Our guys continue to play consistent basketball, both in games, and during practices. They have bought in to the team aspect of the sport of basketball. They are playing connected, unselfish basketball night in and night out, and are being rewarded for their efforts."

The team will be back in action on Monday as the Hillsdale Hornets will travel to Clinton for an LCAA make up game. The JV game is set tip at 5:30 with the varsity game to follow.
