The Clinton JV boys basketball team took a one point lead into the 4th quarter on Tuesday night against a red hot Morenci team that had won 9 of their previous 10 games heading in to this contest. Then, the wheels fell off as Morenci pulled away, using an 18-1 scoring advantage to win 48-32. The loss drops the Redskins JV team to 4-8 overall, and 3-5 in the TCC.
The first half was an exciting back and forth half of action. Morenci took a 30-24 lead at the half. The Redskins came out of the half and put the clamps on defensively, holding Morenci scoreless in the 3rd quarter and scoring 9 points themselves to take a 31-30 advantage heading to the final quarter. Morenci was able to flip the script in the fourth to earn the win.
Landon Busz led the Redskins with 12 points and added 3 rebounds. Grant Stockford chipped in with 7 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 3 blocks. Kyle Wenk also pulled down 8 rebounds to go with his 3 points, and Ethan Herington finsihed with 6 points and 5 rebounds.
The Redskins will be off until next week when they will travel to Quincy for a rare Wednesday night game, to take on the Orioles of the Big 8 conference in a non-leage matchup.
