BRITTON DEERFIELD SCHOOLS: 44

The home court was kind to the Clinton boys JV basketball team on Thursday evening as they earned a hard fought 48-44 victory over the visiting Patriots of Britton-Deerfield.  The win improves the the JV boys basketball record to 3-6 overall and 2-3 in the TCC.

An exciting first half saw several lead changes.  Clinton led 11-10 after the first quarter and would lead by as much as four points in the second quarter.  However, B-D would respond with a run of their own and head in to halftime with a 26-20 halftime lead.  B-D would control most of the third quarter, and taking their largest lead of the game at 10 points 34-24, but the Redskins made their response and went on a 9-2 run to close the third quarter and trail by just three heading in to the fourth quarter.  Neither team was able to get much separation from the other in the fourth quarter.  A late three pointer by Landon Busz proved to be the difference for Clinton as it gave them a lead that they would not give up.  Some free throws and key stops in the final seconds of the game gave the Redskins a much needed win, their first home win of the season.

Landon Busz, who made his second start of the season, finished the game with 12 points, all coming in the second half while also dishing out three assists.  Derek Tomalak also finished with 12 points to go with his four steals and four rebounds.  Grant Stockford made it two games in a row in which three players have reached double figures in scoring as he added 11 points of his own to go with 6 rebounds, 5 blocks, and 3 steals.  Frederick Wade made his presence felt off the bench, as starting forwards Kyle Wenk and Ethan Herington were in foul trouble all game long, and reserve forward Bryson VanSickle was not 100% dealing with sickness.  Wade played the most minutes he has all season and came through in a big way contributing 4 points and 3 steals while also doing a tremendous job defensively.

The Redskins will attempt to make it two wins in a row as they travel to Whiteford next Tuesday for a 5:30PM tip with the varsity game following at 7:00PM.
