Game 1:
Clinton Junior Varsity Redwolves outsted Pinckney Junior Varsity Pirates 6-1 on Friday.
Pinckney Junior Varsity Pirates opened the scoring in the first after Justin Miner hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
Jaxon Phillip laid down a sacrifice bunt, which helped Clinton Junior Varsity Redwolves tie the game at one in the bottom of the third.
In the bottom of the fifth, Clinton Junior Varsity Redwolves broke up the tie when Caleb Ernst doubled, scoring two runs. Then a single by Cyle Mcleod followed to extend the lead to 4-1.
Phillip earned the win for Clinton Junior Varsity Redwolves. The righty allowed three hits and one run over six innings, striking out six and walking three. Miner took the loss for Pinckney Junior Varsity Pirates. The hurler went five and two-thirds innings, surrendering six runs (five earned) on seven hits, striking out four and walking six. Zack Andrews tossed one inning of shutout ball for Clinton Junior Varsity Redwolves in relief. The hurler gave up zero hits, striking out none and walking none.
Ernst and Phillip were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Clinton Junior Varsity Redwolves. Wyatt Cooley led Clinton Junior Varsity Redwolves with two walks. Daejaun Garrison had a standout performance on Friday, going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate to help lead the Clinton Junior Varsity Redwolves to a 14-7 win over the Pinckney JV Pirates. Garrison doubled in the first inning and added singles in both the second and fifth frames.
Clinton jumped ahead early, grabbing a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the first behind RBI singles from Wyatt Cooley and Kolton Pruss.
The Redwolves broke the game open in the second inning, erupting for six runs on four hits to surge ahead 10-5. The highlight came from Ayden McConnell, who roped a two-run double to cap off the rally.
Caleb Ernst earned the win on the mound, tossing five innings and allowing four hits and five runs—only two of which were earned. He struck out six and walked three. Roman Roberts came on in relief to close out the game.
Clinton’s offense stayed hot, tallying 12 hits overall. Pruss was a key contributor, driving in three runs while going 2-for-3. McConnell also chipped in with two hits in four at-bats, while Cyle McLeod showed plate discipline, drawing two walks. As a team, the Redwolves worked six walks and stayed aggressive on the basepaths, stealing six bases—three of them by Max Walden.
