Game 1:
Despite outhitting the Ida Junior Varsity Bluestreaks 8-6, the Clinton Junior Varsity Redwolves came up just short in a 5-4 loss at home on Thursday.
Cyle McLeod led the Redwolves’ offense with a strong performance at the plate, collecting three hits. The Redwolves found themselves trailing by five runs in the fifth inning but mounted a determined comeback effort. They closed the gap thanks to a dropped third strike, a fielding error, and a timely double, but ultimately couldn’t complete the rally.
The Bluestreaks opened the scoring in the top of the second inning and added two more runs in the third to build their lead. Clinton’s Zack Andrews took the loss on the mound, pitching five innings and allowing five runs—three of them earned—on six hits. He struck out three and walked two.
Roman Roberts and Kolton Pruss were key contributors in the middle of the Redwolves' lineup, each driving in two runs. Defensively, Clinton turned two double plays to help keep the game within reach.
Game 2:
Daejaun Garrison had a standout game at the plate, going 3-for-4 as the Clinton Junior Varsity Redwolves fought to a 10-10 tie against the Ida Junior Varsity Bluestreaks on Thursday at home. Garrison notched a double in the second inning and added singles in both the first and fourth innings.
Clinton came out swinging in the top of the first inning, quickly building a lead. Jake Halchishak opened the scoring with an RBI single, followed by a bases-loaded walk drawn by Roman Roberts. Kyler Pawlowski added a two-run single, and a wild pitch later in the inning brought in another run, giving the Redwolves a strong early advantage.
The momentum continued in the second inning, as Clinton added three more runs. Two Ida errors and a bases-loaded walk to Ayden McConnell each led to runs, pushing the Redwolves’ lead even further.
Wyatt Cooley got the start on the mound for Clinton, throwing three innings. He allowed three hits and three runs while striking out two and issuing two walks.
Clinton totaled nine hits in the game, with six players — Cyle McLeod, Brock Worden, Halchishak, Garrison, McConnell, and Pawlowski — each driving in one run. On the basepaths, Pawlowski led the way with two stolen bases as the team racked up four in total.
The Clinton JV Redwolves will look to carry their offensive momentum into their next matchup on Friday when they travel to take on the Napoleon Junior Varsity Pirates.
