Clinton Varsity hosted their first home game tonight and had a great crowd! The Redskins swept the Sand Creek Aggies in 3 games. Scores were 25-20, 25-20, 25-18 with better communication and more aggressive defense the Redskins battled to win three straight.
Leading the Redskins with serving was Ali Elwart with 100% going 11 for 11 with 4 points she also contributed 2 kills, and 18 assists. Megyn Artnz had 6 aces, 5 kills, and 2 blocks. Also, stepping up today was Sophomore Tess Woerner with 11 kills, 2 aces, and 4 points. Payton Blaze had 15 digs, 3 aces, 19 good serve receive passes. Karlee Szczesniak had 15 assists and 1 key block. Lindsey Burton had 6 kills, 3 blocks, 4 digs with a strong hitting percent at .385. Brianna Burton had 7 kills while Breece Phillips had 7 digs, 1 aces, and 5 serve receive passes on the night. Seniors Saydie Starnes had 4 kills, 1 block, 12 digs, 4 aces, and 12 serve receive passes while Rilee Szczesnisk had 11 digs, 2 aces, and led the team with 11 points and 8 serve receive passes. We hope to have Sam Renaldi back 100% next week for two more road conferences matches.
The team serving percent was 89%. Coach Loftis said, "The team goal is 94% and we really need to work on getting our serves to that consistency and keep them tough. It will be a focus in the next week. This is key to win tight games especially in the TCC."
Next game for Varsity is away against Summerfield as a double header starting at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, September 25th. Come out and cheer on your Redskins.
