Girls Varsity Volleyball Home Tournament

Clinton Varsity hosted their first home Varsity tournament in three years on Saturday with 6 teams attending. Clinton finished the day 5-2-1 and in 2nd place over all.
In pool play, Clinton played Tecumseh first and beat them 25-23, then lost the second game to them 25-16, next Clinton played Homer where they won both games with scores of 25-15 and 25-21. Third match of the day was against Canton Prep, Clinton won 25-4 and 25-3. Lincoln was up next and Clinton beat them in two tough matches both with scores of 26-24. Last up in pool play, Clinton suffered its first loss of the season against Father Gabriel Richard scores were 12-25 and 19-25
After pool play Clinton was seeded third. Clinton played Canton Prep in the quarterfinal game and beat them in two straight sets with scores of 25-19 and 25-9. Clinton then faced Tecumseh in a tough rematch in the semi-final and was able to beat them in two straight games with scores of 25-23 and 25-22. Clinton headed to the final against Father Gabriel Richard, where they lost with scores of 16-25 and 14-25.
Ali Elwart lead the Redskins with with 57 points including 18 aces, as well as 56 assists and 25 digs. Tess Woerner had 55 points and 18 aces, 22 kills, and 12 digs. Payton Blaze led the team with 66 digs, 21 points, and 50 serve receive passes. Brianna Burton led the team with 34 kills, 4 digs and 3 blocks, Megyn Artnz with 33 kills and 12 blocks. Saydie Starnes had 16 kills, 6 blocks, 9 points with 4 aces. Sam Renaldi had 7 kills and 6 blocks. Rilee Szczesniak had 45 digs, 25 points, and 52 serve receive passes. Breece Phillips had 40 digs, 11 points, and 52 serve receive. Rounding out the Redskins was Karlee Szczesniak with 30 assists, 6 digs, 21 points and 4 blocks. Clinton plays on Monday, August 20th in Vandercook Lake with the Tri-match starting at 4:00 pm Clinton will play in the second and third match.
