WHITMORE LAKE HIGH SCHOOL: 40
On Friday, the Redskins had a once in a lifetime opportunity, getting to play on the same floor as the Detroit Pistons at the brand new Little Caesar's Arena in downtown Detroit. The day was filled with fun memories, including a 55-40 win over Whitmore Lake.
"We had a great time today. We are thankful to have had the opportunity to enjoy this experience together. The focus today was all about fun and making memories that will last a lifetime, to win the game was just the cherry on top," Coach Jordan Kelly said.
There were some nerves early, as both teams struggled to score in the large venue. Clinton quickly found their shooting touch, taking a 16-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. Whitmore Lake got as close as 16-10 in the second quarter before the Redskins closed the half on a 10-0 run to take a 26-10 halftime lead.
"To me, the best thing about today was getting everyone in the scorebook. That's something that happens rarely on any team. Seeing the guys' reactions when that happened will be what I remember most about today. That was pretty cool," Kelly added.
Leading the way for Clinton was Steven Fortney with 10 points. Other scorers on the team were: Justin Felts had 7 points; Robbie Campbell, Mitchell Drabicki, Keegan Degner all had 6 points, Clark Nelson, Austin Fauser both had 4; Clay Langer had 3; Collin Stapnowski, Michael Meeks, Nick Shoner, and Jared Lancaster all had 2, and Cooper Renaldi knocked in a free throw for 1 point.
Clinton will travel to Onsted on Thursday night for the season finale against the Wildcats.
Overall record: 9-10 (7-7 TCC)
