The Clinton JV Redwolves faced a strong Ida Bluestreaks team Tuesday night, battling through three sets before coming up short in the first two and finishing the night with a dominant third-set victory. Clinton stayed within striking distance throughout the opening two sets, using strong serving and smart plays to keep pressure on Ida. The Redwolves ultimately fell 19-25 in the first set and 17-25 in the second. Ida’s consistent, low-error play proved difficult for the Wolves to overcome. Refusing to let the match end without a fight, Clinton came out of the second set determined and ready to respond. Strong passing combined with an aggressive offense allowed the Redwolves to take control early and cruise to a 15-6 victory. Kylie Hicks led the Clinton attack with seven kills, followed closely by Brooklynn Kranz with six. Karsyn Nicholson added four kills and three blocks, while DeLane McKinnon contributed three kills. Kranz and Hicks also helped run the offense, recording seven assists apiece. Defensively, Makena Peters once again anchored the Redwolves with a team-high 16 digs. Paisley Kurowcki added seven digs, while Kranz and Hicks each contributed six. From the service line, Kranz led the Wolves with seven points. Kurowcki added six, while Aby Webb and Avah Vershum each contributed four points. Although Clinton was unable to secure the overall match victory, the Redwolves showed resilience by responding with their strongest volleyball of the night in the third set. The team will look to carry that momentum into the weekend as they travel to Adrian for the County Tournament.
