Redwolves Make Run in Gold Bracket at D3/D4 Showdown in Livonia

The Clinton Redwolves turned in an impressive performance at the D3/D4 Showdown in Livonia, battling through pool play and multiple tournament brackets to reach the Gold Bracket semifinals. Clinton finished the tournament with a 4-1 record, earning wins over Cheryl Stockwell, Dansville, Hanover-Horton and Beal City before falling to Plymouth Christian Academy in the Gold Bracket semifinal. The Redwolves opened the tournament with strong performances in pool play, defeating Cheryl Stockwell (25-7, 25-12) and Dansville (25-8, 25-17) to advance to the challenge portion of the tournament. In the challenge bracket, Clinton faced Division 3 Honorable Mention Hanover-Horton and continued its run with another victory 25-14, 25-20, earning a spot in the Gold Bracket. Once in the Gold Bracket, the Redwolves showed they belonged among the tournament’s top teams. Clinton defeated Beal City in 3 sets 25-21, 23-25, and 15-10, advancing to the Gold Bracket semifinal and putting itself just one win away from a spot in the championship match. Clinton’s run ultimately came to an end against Plymouth Christian Academy, with scores of 19-25 and 16-25, but the Redwolves walked away with a strong showing against quality competition and valuable experience heading into the postseason. A Balanced Team Effort Clinton’s tournament success was fueled by contributions throughout the lineup. The Redwolves recorded 130 kills and 117 assists over the course of the event, while also collecting an impressive 205 digs. Addison Loftis led the team with 38 kills and 40 assists, providing a major offensive presence throughout the tournament. Abby Sheneman added 24 kills hitting .340, while Bella Bannon recorded 20 kills and hit .327. Avery Loftis had 58 assists and 13 kills and Joslyn Kranz contributed 16 kills on the day. All 6 of the Redwolves hitters had double digit kills on the day. Defensively, Calli Kruger led Clinton with 43 digs and had a 2.0 on serve receive against tough servering, followed by Lila Kennedy with 40 digs and Avery Loftis with 30 digs and 39 serving points on the day. Addison Loftis had 26 digs while Emily Farmer had 24 digs on the day. The Redwolves passers also all recorded double digit digs on the day competing against the tough competition. Clinton’s serving was tough as well with 23 aces on the day while serving a 95% as a team. The Redwolves’ run to the Gold Bracket semifinals was another strong step forward for a Clinton team that has consistently competed with some of the best programs in the area this season. Clinton hosts LCAA opponent Ida on Tuesday Oct 6th with JV starting at 5:30 pm, staff appreciation following, with varsity starting about 7:00 pm. Clinton stands at 27-6-1 on the season.
