Redwolves Capture Inaugural Region 13 Showcase Championship

The Clinton Redwolves made history on their home court Saturday, winning the inaugural Region 13 Showcase Tournament with a perfect 5-0 record. Clinton hosted the Region 13 Showcase to provide an opportunity for teams to compete and see each other during the regular season. Clinton dominated pool play, opening the tournament with a 25-15, 25-14 victory over Hillsdale before defeating Jonesville 25-13, 26-24. The Redwolves advanced to the Gold Bracket with plenty of momentum. In the Gold Bracket, Clinton was ranked 3rd and continued its strong run with a 25-19, 25-21 sweep of Hillsdale Academy. The Redwolves then faced Ranked #2 D4 Lenawee Christian Schools, their toughest match of the tournament. After winning the first set 25-18, Clinton dropped the second 23-25 but responded with a decisive 15-6 victory in the third set to advance to the championship match. Coach Rainey loved how the team responded in the 3rd set after they dropped set 2. Clinton came out with a purpose and finished the 3rd set with a strong serve and pass game. In the championship, Clinton faced Hudson and finished the day with a 2 set victory. The Redwolves earned a 25-22, 25-16 victory to claim the first Region 13 Showcase championship. Balanced Attack Leads Clinton Clinton’s offensive numbers reflected the team’s success throughout the tournament. The Redwolves recorded 136 kills on 379 attempts, hitting an impressive .245 as a team. Addison Loftis led Clinton with 40 kills, while Rylee Pepper and Abby Sheneman recorded 23 and 21 kills, respectively. Avery Loftis also added 22 kills, while Bella Bannon had 19 kills and Joslyn Kranz had 10 kills giving the Redwolves multiple offensive options throughout the tournament. Avery also played a major role in running the offense, finishing with 63 assists, while Addison contributed 40 assists. Defensively, Clinton recorded an impressive 270 digs during the tournament. Addison led the team with 61 digs, Lila Kennedy had 48 digs, while Avery added 40 digs and Rylee 26, Zoey Riddle had 25, Calli Kruger had 23 digs, and Emily Farmer contributed 16 digs on the day. The Redwolves made an impact from the service line, finishing with 29 aces and serving at a team efficiency of 92%. A Championship at Home From the opening whistle of pool play through the championship match, Clinton consistently found ways to make plays when it mattered. The Redwolves finished 5-0, going 10-1 in sets, with their only set loss coming in the three-set battle against a ranked LCS team. Winning the first-ever Region 13 Showcase was a memorable accomplishment for the Redwolves, especially with the tournament taking place on their home court. Region 13 Showcase Champions Clinton Redwolves: 5-0 Clinton hosts two more dates this coming week. First, Clinton will host LCAA team Hillsdale on Tuesday with JV starting at 5:30 and Varsity at 7 pm. This is also youth night- opportunities for the 3/4 and 5/6 grade girls to come play, cheer, and watch the HS teams. Then the Wolves will host a Tri-match with JV and Varsity starting at 5:00 pm against Manchester and Jonesville.
