After a tough loss to Dundee earlier in the week, the Clinton Redwolves JV volleyball team wasted little time getting back on the court. Clinton traveled to Airport on September 10 for a quad featuring Ida, Airport, and Wyandotte, and the Redwolves responded with an impressive night of volleyball, finishing with two wins and one loss. Clinton opened the night against a strong Ida team and battled through three competitive sets. The Redwolves took the opening set 25-23 before Ida answered with a 25-18 win in the second. Clinton ultimately fell short in the deciding set, 25-13. The Redwolves struggled at times with serve receive and passing against Ida, making it difficult to maintain offensive consistency. Despite those struggles, Clinton continued to battle and put itself in position to compete with a talented Ida squad. The Redwolves quickly flipped the script in their next two matches. Clinton came out strong against Airport, controlling the match from the start and cruising to a 25-15, 25-7 victory. The team carried that momentum into its final match against Wyandotte, earning another convincing two-set win, 25-9 and 25-16. The Redwolves were led by a number of strong individual performances throughout the night. Kylie Hicks had an outstanding all-around performance, recording 30 assists, 19 digs, and 38 points, including nine aces. Makena Peters was equally impressive, finishing with 36 digs and 32 points, including 12 aces. Brooklynn Kranz contributed 16 kills and 11 assists, while Karsyn Nicholson added 13 kills and four blocks. DeLane McKinnon recorded eight kills and seven blocks, and Paisley Kurowcki contributed 10 points, including two aces. The Redwolves' ability to respond after a difficult opening match was a positive sign for the team. After struggling in serve receive and passing against Ida, Clinton made adjustments and played with greater consistency and confidence in the final two matches. Clinton will have another opportunity to test itself against strong competition on Saturday when the Redwolves travel to Pontiac for the Motor City Power League.
