The Clinton Varsity football team took advantage of short fields offensively to notch a 55-6 win over Whitmore Lake Friday to open Tri-County Conference play.

Clay Langer led the way with eight carries for 83 yards, including two touchdowns and one two-point conversion. Jack Voll added a touchdown run with his six carries for 69 yards. Noah Comar also gained 56 yards on five carries and a touchdown, while Christian Minard notched 43 yards on seven carries and a score. Dylan Settles punched in an eight-yard touchdown run to round out the scoring.

Jonathan Baughey was five-for-seven on extra points, and Brayden Randolph starred on special teams with kickoff returns of 36 and 24 yards.

Cecil Rafferty led the Clinton defense with two quarterback sacks and four tackles for loss, while Jeff Konz and Randolph added five tackles each. Randolph also forced a fumble, which was recovered by Brandt Brown.

An outstanding performance by the offensive line, led by Gabe Gibbs, Will Felts, Brown, Conner Brodie, Billy Baker, and Cooper Renaldi, helped the Redskins average 8.5 yards per carry.

Clinton continues league play at home against Morenci Friday night.
