Clinton defeats Manchester, 61-20

A big second quarter and balanced ground game helped host Clinton defeat rival Manchester 61-20 at Wegner Field Friday night. Eight different players carried the ball for Clinton, totaling 425 yards on the ground on 38 carries; six different players found the endzone.

The Redskins totaled five scores in the second quarter alone en route to 41 first-half points. Clayton Langer Freeman opened the scoring on the night with a 23 yard scamper. Manchester answered on the following possession with a 42-yard touchdown strike.

Quarterback Dylan Settles opened the second quarter with a 30-yard rushing touchdown, which was followed by scores from Jack Voll, Christian Minard, and a 45-yard touchdown reception by Jeff Konz.

Noah Deshano followed another Manchester touchdown with a 10-yard touchdown run with just 26 seconds left in the second quarter.

Settles added another rushing touchdown in the third; Davey Campbell scored on a quarterback run, and Langer-Freeman rounded out the scoring with a 38-yard touchdown run.

In his varsity debut, freshman Jonathan Baughey was 7-for-9 on extra point kicks. Konz caught the lone pass of the evening for his score. Noah DeShano led the defense with six total tackles, followed by Ian Root with five tackles and a fumble recovery. Voll and Billy Baker each forced fumbles defensively, while Cooper Renaldi added a sack.

Offensive linemen Conner Brodie, Brandt Brown, Brendan Branscum, Gabe Gibbs, Will Felts, Tyler Bowles, and and Luke Knight paved the way up front.
