Track & Field Concludes Regular Season at Home
The Senior Class

Game Date
May 14, 2021

The Clinton men and women finished the regular season at home on Friday, May 14th for the Pelz Invitational. The night was full of emotions as the seniors competed for the last time at home as a Clinton athlete, but they did not disappoint in their efforts! The men’s team finished second to perennial power, Dundee as they scored in many positions including Grant Stockford in the high jump, Matt Johnson in the throws, Zak Shadley in the long jump, Gabe Nelson taking the win in the 3200 and Ryan Doty setting a 5 second personal record to win the 800 with Max Hampel in a close second.

Men’s Team Meet Awards:

  • Most Valuable: The volunteers - without you we simply could not have the excellent meet that we did.

  • Spirit of the Meet: The seniors...we cannot thank you enough for your time with the team and express how much you will be missed next season.

The Clinton women accomplished their mission of defending their home track at the Pelz Invitational. This is the first invitational win of the season for Clinton, as they edged out second place Dundee by 5 points. It was the most complete effort for the track and field team, as they scored well in the field, sprint, and distance events.

A trademark for the team all season has been their domination of field events. This was again the case on Friday night as Lena Korte won both the shot put and discus. Freshman Summer Chandler won the high jump competition with teammate Brynn Frederick claiming second place. In one of the highlights of the meet, Bri Underwood won the long jump and tied the school record with her leap of 16 feet, 10 inches. Griffin Faulkner tied her personal record in the pole vault and secured second place.

The 4x100 relay team of Griffin Faulkner, Bri Underwood, Brynn Federick, and Mia Struck took first place as they crushed the field by nearly four seconds. The most impressive performance on the track came from senior Alissa King. In her final race on Clinton’s track, King secured the team title for Clinton by winning the 3200 meter run in a personal best time of 12:55.
