Clinton Men's and Women's Track & Field Sweep Hillsdale and Blissfield

The Clinton men and women displayed some seriously strong performances tonight sweeping both Hillsdale and Blissfield, here are the scores:

 

Men:

Clinton 92 - Blissfield 28

Clinton 86 - Hillsdale 51

Hillsdale 101 - Blissfield 35

Clinton Men advance to 3-1 in the LCAA

 

Women:

Clinton 88 - Blissfield 42

Clinton 84 - Hillsdale 39

Hillsdale 57 - Blissfield 48

Clinton Women advance to 2-2 in the LCAA

 

Outstanding performances for the men include:

  • Matt Johnson 41’ in the SPT and 105-1 in the DT

  • Tyler Bowles 36-5 in the SPT

  • Trevor Lakatos 82-5 in the men’s DT

  • Zak Shadley 18-4.25 in LJ, 12.31 in the 100m

  • Garret Handy 16-8 in LJ, 11.91 in the 100m, 24.49 in the 200m 

  • Gavin Scott 16-6.5 in LJ 

  • Grant Stockford 5-8 in HJ, 12.01 in the 100m, 24.46 in the 200m, 

  • The 4x100 relay of Scott, Handy, Stockford, and Shadley for a strong performance at 46.71 seconds

  • The 4x800 relay of Doty, Urbanczyk, King, and Hampel at 9:20.94

  • Max Hampel in the 110HH 20.19 (never ran before), 2:16.69 in the 800m, 

  • Isaac Peck in the 110HH 22.34 (never ran before), 300LH at 51.25

  • Matt Urbanczyk in the 400m at 57.33, 2:24.33 in the 800m

  • Weston Fortney in the 400m at 58.76

  • Reed Patrick in the 300LH at 54.94

  • Gabe Nelson 4:58.54 in the 1600m and 10:48.7 in the 3200m run

  • Todd King 11:33.85 in the 3200m and 5:13.69 in the 1600m

  • Erick Neff in the 3200m with a time of 11:43.42

  • The 4x400 relay of Hampel, Fortney, Peck, and Urbanczyk for a time of 4:20.94

Meet Awards:

Most Valuable: Max Hampel for stepping up in the 110HH and displaying consistently strong performances in his events.

Most Improved Field: Matt Johnson for breaking into the 41’ range for the SPT!

Most Improved Track: Garret Handy for breaking into the 11 second range for the 100m dash!

Spirit of the Meet: Zach Duford for his excellent support of both the men’s and women’s teams as well as his willingness to help out the coaches!

 

The women’s team evened up their record to 2-2 in the conference standings and were led once again by outstanding work in the field events. Lena Korte won both throwing events against both teams, Griffin Faulkner won the pole vault, and Bri Underwood kept her undefeated streak alive in the long jump. On the track, Alissa King and Emma Shankland went 1-2 in the 3200 against both teams to seal the victory for Clinton. Underwood set a new personal record in the 100, winning the race in a time of 13.27, just .01 ahead of second place. Cassie McNatt also set a new personal record in the 300 hurdles with a time of 50.32. 

 

The coaches cannot thank all of the parents and the Middle School coaching staff enough for working the meet tonight, you all are amazing! CHSTF travels to Hillsdale for an invitational on Friday, let’s go team!
