JH football beats Whiteford

Game Date
Sep 25, 2019

Clinton Redskin Middle School football competed as a combined 7th and 8th grade team vs the Whiteford Bobcats on September 25, 2019, and continues to sport an unblemished record (2-0) with a 14-0 victory.  The Redskins opened the game on offense and were quick to strike paydirt with running back Nik Shadley running 50 yards untouched to the endzone on the second play of the game to give the team an early 6-0 lead.  On the ensuing kickoff Redskin kicker, Wyatt Hicks, placed the ball perfectly for an onside recovery, his second in as many games, but the offense could not capitalize and eventually turned the ball over on downs in Bobcat territory.  It would not take long for the Redskin offensive linemen Maurice Ames, Nate Page, Teddy Pizio, Wyatt Hicks, Bryce Rosacrans, and Brandon Johnson to reassert themselves enabling running back Joey Preston to dash 35 yards to the one yard line and then cap off the drive with a touchdown mid 2nd quarter.  Running back Connor Younts rounded off the scoring for the game tacking on two more points with a successful conversion attempt to give the Redskins their 14-0 lead.  The Redskins are most proud of their defensive effort with two forced fumble recoveries and denying any points to the Bobcats. Stand out defensive performers include Coy Perry, Cole Breitenwischer, Dylan Badge, Hamza Rafferty, and Xavier Gibbs.  The middle school football teams are on the road again next week, October 2, at Britton Deerfield (7th grade) and Michigan Collegiate (8th grade).
