COLUMBIA CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL: 6

The varsity football team traveled to Brooklyn Columbia Central on Friday, September 27th for an LCAA contest and came away with a 49-6 win.  With our community and students dealing with tragedy, our team was able to rise above and stick together as a family and earn a great team win.  Our offensive line did a tremendous job on the night and for their efforts they earned players of the game (Nate Smith, Matt Johnson, Ethan Herington, Wyatt Hicks, Max Stitt, Kent McCombs, and Jake Felts).  The team put up 21 first quarter points as sophomore, Nik Shadley was able to put Clinton on the board first with an 8 yard run, followed by Johnathan Baughey's P.A.T. conversion to make it 7-0 Clinton.  Clinton's defense was outstanding all night as they held Columbia to 22 yards rushing and 71 yard passing, for less than 100 total yards of offense.  Nik Shadley found the end zone again with a 10 yard run and Baughey's P.A.T. was again good.  Clinton 14 CC 0.  Late in the first quarter sophomore, Joey Preston put one in the end zone from 5 yards out followed by Baughey's P.A.T., Clinton 21 CC 0 at the end of the 1st quarter.

The second quarter saw senior quarterback Derek Tomalak find the end zone on a 10 yard run.  Jon Baughey punched the ball through the uprights to make the score 28-0 Clinton.  Nik Shadley then ripped off a 79 yard run for a touchdown and Baughey converted the P.A.T.  It was 35-0 Clinton heading into halftime.

After halftime Columbia Central received the ball but Clinton was able to get the ball back and punch another score into the endzone.  This time Nik Shadley had a run of 47 yards and Baughey's kick make it 42-0.  Into the 4th quarter Freshman Jake Felts was able to cross the goal line with a 10 yard run and Baughey made it a perfect 7 for 7 on P.A.T.'s for the night to make the score 49-0.  Columbia was able to score on a pass and Clinton stopped the P.A.T. attempt.  The final score was Clinton 49 Columbia Central 6.

Leaders on the night were Nik Shadley with 7 rushes for 159 yards and 4 touchdowns.  Joey Preston has 13 carries for 67 yards and a touchdown. Zak Shadley had 7 carries for 59 yards.  Derek Tomalak had 4 carries for 31 yards and a touchdown. As a team Clinton rushed for 355 yards and passed for 61 yards.  Coy Perry was 1 for 1 passing with a 36 yard completion and Derek Tomalak had a completion for 25 yards.

Special Teams player of the game was Jonathan Baughey who went 7 for 7 on P.A.T.'s.  Defensively Clinton played great and Ethan Herington and Jake Felts led the team in Tackles.  Ethan Herington seemed to be all over the field and earned the defensive player of the game.  Jake Felts also had an interception as well.  Joey Preston recovered a fumble and Nate Smith blocked a P.A.T.    Our Red Army Player of the Week is Ethan Younts.

This week Clinton is home against Blissfield for homecoming.  We are also hosting a military appreciation night.  Please come support all the great things going on.
