The Clinton football team overcame a slow start to earn an impressive win over county rival Blissfield, 45-13, at Wegner Field Friday. The Royals entered the game ranked fifth in Division 6, while the Redskins were ranked 7th in Division 7. 

After falling behind 7-0 following a Blissfield interception, the Redskins responded with 45 consecutive points to put the game out of reach. Jack Voll opened the scoring with a 65-yard touchdown run, followed by touchdown runs from Davey Campbell (24), Noah DeShano (2), and Brayden Randolph (4) to push the lead the 26-7 late in the first half. With just over a minute before half, quarterback Dylan Settles rattled of an impressive 48-yard touchdown scamper to push the advantage to 32-7, and all but put the game out of reach. 

Settles added a 33-yard touchdown pass to Ridge Ahrens to open the second-half scoring, and Randolph added his second touchdown in the third to institute a running clock before Blissfield’s final score with 5:29 left in the contest. 

Voll led the Clinton ground attack with 167 yards on just eight carries, averaging over 20 yards per carry. Settles had a solid night offensively, going 3-for-4 in the air for for 89 yards and a touchdown to go along with 47 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Ahrens finished with two catches and 68 receiving yards, including a score. 

Campbell led a stingy Clinton defense with an interception, fumble recovery and four tackles. Will Felts and Randolph notched six tackles each, and Luke Knight added five, including one for a loss. George Ames added four tackles and forced a first-half fumble that swung the momentum for the Redskins. 

The Redskins held Blissfield to just 40 yards rushing on 15 attempts. Fifteen of those yards came on one carry.

Clinton (2-0) travels to Morenci Friday to open up TCC play.
